Re: Philip Sayce .... European Tour Dates

Hi Michael,

Encouraged by Martin (mbcl) I checked Philip out a couple of weeks and my reaction was "wow, where’s this guy been, or maybe that should be “where have I been”? lol

Martin's planning to be at Dingwalls and all being well, so will I. I hear he plays a pretty long set, too. wink

Curby's a big fan, too, so I expect he'll be here soon to say some good things.

See u there.

Re: Philip Sayce .... European Tour Dates

Hey Michael,  I'M SO JEALOUS!  Man I wish he would come to my side of the world.  Those Tokyo clips are awesome. Thank you. I'm sure the video of him and JB jamming at some little club in LA made it across the pond. not the best quality but wow, to be in the audience that night must have been special.  Here's another RIPPER.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YcicI6r … re=related   Drag your cursor to the 3 minute 15 second mark if you want some serious Hendrix like tones. INCREDIBLE!   Any chance of some video from Dingwalls?  He's very taper friendly.   Thanks again Michael.  Reviews of course.

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: Philip Sayce .... European Tour Dates

Thanks Michael and especially Martin for gettin' the juices flowing again for one of my favorite guitarists.  I have a ton of Jeff Healey's music, but for some reason didn't have him and Philip's version of "My Guitar Gently Weeps".  I just now fixed that problem - wonder if George heard that version of his great song.
It's been a long time since he's released some new material and I can't wait to hear his new album.
Listened to Jeff's rec for the 3:15 mark of "Peace Machine" and he's right - absolutely amazing!  You don't get that good running through endless scales, it comes from the heart.  Wow!

Re: Philip Sayce .... European Tour Dates

Hey guys thanks, Phil will call on meeting up for sure  wink, Curby yeah been into Philip now for about 3 years and can't wait to see him live hope to see you there
Jeff ok buddy, now i gotta capture a song or 2 from Philips first ever UK show, thanks for the info
Love the way he really Roughs up and Rocks that Guitar

Re: Philip Sayce .... European Tour Dates

Gosh boys...... it's been awhile since I've been here.  I almost didn't know HOW to REPLY!!!!  Imagine THAT!!!

Just wanted to throw in a cheer or two for Mr. Sayce who I had the GREAT pleasure of seeing in April and again in June.  Here's the link to a video I shot at the latter show (I have a few more I've not uploaded yet - surprise, surprise!!!)  :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cDjgU86 … annel_page

Philip is an INTENSE and incredibly gifted musician.  He has POWERFUL vocals and really gives 1000% to each performance.  I know that he and Joe have a great mutual respect and friendship.  His band is tight - really great!!!  I just LOVE them!!!

Do you see those first three shows on Michael's list at the top of the page??  I am going to do my best to get to each one.  Hopefully, I will be able to swing it.  I am THRILLED to know that several of my friends (some not listed here) will be taking in shows with Philip, including the one at Dingwall's.  I LOVE that I will be seeing him so close to the time YOU will be seeing him!!  I was talking to Melissa about this today..... it just makes me feel all the more connected to you - like I'm sending him TO YOU!!!  LOL.  I am DEFINITELY sending PERSONAL hugs for him to deliver TO YOU!!!!  wink

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!!

Re: Philip Sayce .... European Tour Dates

Hello again.  I'm off to see Philip tonight..... well, in about 18 hours or so..... and was inspired to upload a few more videos.  My beloved little Fuji, by the way, my go everywhere, do everything, documenter extraordinaire, extension of my arm, regular occupant of my purse, and THE ONLY CAMERA to shoot ALL of Libbysvideos....... has....... all but...... died.  sad

She has served me well....... shooting tens of thousands of stills...... and I don't even KNOW how many videos of how many SPECTACULAR musicians.  Every single video I've shot of Joe....... was on the little Fuji.  I'm not sure how I'll ever replace her.  As Tripsy said to me the other day, R.I.P. little Fuji........  sad

Re: Philip Sayce .... European Tour Dates

Hi Libby,

Thanks for posting these great videos. They look really professional. wink

If you have the chance, please mention to Philip that there will be a welcoming committee waiting for him on this side of the pond. I hope September flies by. smile

Re: Philip Sayce .... European Tour Dates

Thanks Michael for flagging this up.

I wasn't sure whether to go or not but the combination of Libby's enthusiasm and her excellent vids and Wooders persuading me that the low ticket price balances out the long journey to Dingwalls and then back home late on a Monday night has clinched it.

See you there. Hopefully, I'll be wearing the new JB vintage blues rock t-shirt I've ordered cool

Re: Philip Sayce .... European Tour Dates

Get ready Europe. Philip Sayce will be there in a few days!!

Re: Philip Sayce .... European Tour Dates

Jeff,
That is from the midpoint of the song "Slipaway" from the Peace Machine CD. It is my favorite song to see him do live.

This says it all for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPuYugh0TAA&NR=1

I came out in a sweat just watching it. yikes I can hardly wait for the 28th.

Can we start a role call of who will be at Dingwalls on the 28th September?  Please add tour name to this thread as it would be nice to have a mini meet for this gig, which looks as if it could be quite memorable to say the least.

I knew I had heard the song before but WOW he puts a little extra into the live version.  Like I said before very Frank Marino like.
