Topic: Joe’s EVM12L Speaker Wiring

I have read that Joe’s cabinets have EVM12L speakers that are wired parallel at 8 ohms. If Joe uses (2) 4 x 12's cabinets that are internally vertically separated, so they are like 2 x 12's internally wouldn’t this make Joe’s cabinet 4 ohms per side when wired in parallel? I don’t think EV Classics are available in 16 ohm, so are Joe’s cabinets wired in series parallel at 8 ohm or parallel wireing at 4 ohm per side?

Joe's are EV'S 8 or 16 ohm?

Thanks,
Bill

EV12L Classics are available in 8 or 16 Ohm

So I would guess that they are 16 Ohm in Parallel.

Re: Joe’s EVM12L Speaker Wiring

If they're the 16 ohm then it would be 8ohm per side.
If 8 ohm speakers then it'd be 4ohm per side.

I think Joe would be using the 16 ohm speakers.

Re: Joe’s EVM12L Speaker Wiring

Until recently, the only EV’s in 16 ohm that I could find where the Black Labels. Mojo Musical, the maker of Joe’s old cabinets has and still only lists the 8 ohm speaker on there website along with many other EV distributers. I don’t know if the Classic has always been available in 16 ohm and Joe have always used the 16 ohm. Like I said, I read somewhere that Joe’s cabinets are setup at 8 ohm. So they must be the EVM 12L Calssic16 ohm speakers…

Thanks,
Bill

Re: Joe’s EVM12L Speaker Wiring

My son in the past year has bought a couple of pairs of ev12l classics 16 ohm. They are absolutely no problem to get. Have you tried amazon? Thats where he bought his. Good luck.

Check it out,

This is just one of the sites on amazon, these speakers have gone up in price about $30 dollars since my son bought his.
