Re: 40 years go today.....

The media in the UK is making a lot of the 40th anniversary of the photoshoot for the Abbey Road album cover. Happy days.

Hey Phil,

I saw that on the NBC Today Show this morning. It really is neat for some of us now to say that we actually crossed Abbey Road. smile

Joe is the Best!

Re: 40 years go today.....

40 years ago today Charles Manson got more than his 15 minutes of infamy.  I still get creeped out listening to the Beatle's White Album,  knowing how it affected the twisted minds of the Family.

I used to work with a guy who was the nephew of the owner of The VW Beetle. He has had the number plates stolen more times than he can count.

Re: 40 years go today.....

I'm glad this one didn't end in tears after all that heavy stuff earlier on.

It gives me reason to celebrate the 40th anniversary of (probably) the most significant musical event during my lifetime.

Max Yasgur's Farm, 15th August 1969 - Woodstock.

I still love listening to the album - there's a real spiritual vibe about it.
I wasn't there unfortunately - were any of you?

Ian

Please be in no doubt that this is the REAL ME! Beware imposters........................

Re: 40 years go today.....

Hi Ian,

I have to agree with you about the mother of all music festivals - it was definitely an important event for boomers.  I've got the DVD and watch it every now and then.  My favorite performers were Santana,  Sly and the Family Stone and Ten Years After.  I didn't go (too young), but I knew a few people who did and all of them had hazy memories of the event.  Too much weed and controlled substances were the culprits they said.  Vbg!
Boy... there was alot of things going on the summer of '69 as Bryan Adams sang.

Have to agree with everything Ian said on this one. And like you Ian, unfortunately i was a little too young at the time.
