Topic: solo tone in The Great Flood
I just love Joe's tone in his solo of The Great Flood. Does anyone know which amp he uses for that?

I don't know what he was using amp wise (other than the jubilee) but I'd guess the carol anne.
I know he didn't use a pick while playing that solo though (says so in an interview in guitarist magazine)
Guitar volume probably isn't up at 10 either, maybe around 7.
Hopefully others can throw in some info too.
Aye tis right nice I had a feeling it was out of phase (just because it sounds like my LP's out of phase sound) but I'm no doubt wrong. What ever he did it really compliments / sounds alot like the sax thats playing.
The imitation/duel with the sax towards the end is excellent. I don't think it's the Jubilee, though. Somehow I suspect it's one of the lower wattage vintage Fender amps he used in the studio. If anyone has more info, let me know.
Though I'm probably wrong I think it's his Jubilee/Two Rock combination. It has a lot of reverb on it and is a little drier sounding than his Jubilee/Carol-Ann tone. There's a very good possibility that it was the Fenders too. Joe sounds like Joe no matter what he's playing through!

I agree - when I play it, I use my Two Rock pairing.
This solo is the greatest example of "less is more". It just send shivers up my spine.... especially when it's LOUD! I love playing it.
The two rock combo sounds right to me.

To me it sounds a lot like a dumble, ie his Van Weelden. This is my favorite solo on the album as well.
Is it just me or does his tone sound a lot like David Gilmour on that song?

Yeah, kind of like the part in "Money" without all the delay and reverb.

He sounds like Gilmour in a couple of places on the album. Several others have remarked similar Deezer (and Matt).
