Saw him at LIMS, - and really enjoyed it. Took a couple of videos:

Best take on Little Wing that I have heard:

the slight gravely edge to his voice suits it perfectly.

Now a show with JB and SMcB would be great.....;)

Re: Simon Mcbride

I believe he supported Joe in Ireland when he played there last year? Perhaps Michael will confirm, I believe he was there.

I've seen him 3 times "accidentially" lol. Twice opening for Joe at Dublin and Belfast then Simon also opened for Jeff Beck in Belfast.

I'm still to pick up one of his CD's yet though roll

Hi Matt, how are you keeping? Many thanks to you and your dad for the record vouchers, there was absolutely no need to do that you know. Next time we'll put you up and save you the cost of a hotel. Simon's album is worth every penny - go get it.

Re: Simon Mcbride

Currymandavid and I saw Simon in a solo spot supporting Derek Trucks at Shepherds Bush in April and here's what I said on the D thread the following day:

"As mentioned to you last night, I’d like to see Simon McBride with his usual band for a fuller sound. One for the must see list, I think.   I thought his choice of Fire and Water was cool and his rendition of the rather hackneyed Little Wing was sufficiently different to most to make it attention grabbing."

Definitely worth going to see Simon in my opinion.

Re: Simon Mcbride

Hi Guys, if any of you uk guys is interested, Simon Mcbride is playing Londons, Charlotte street blues on the 7th of August, and yes sods law strikes again!!! I cant go, ive got tickets to see Stanton Moore in southsea that night, oh well if anybody goes let us know what it was like.

Let there be drums......and there was drums

Re: Simon Mcbride

I will probably try to get along to see Simon at Charlotte Street on the 7th; it should be a great chance to see him in a smallish venue. Tickets are priced at only £7 at the door or £5 with membership card. (I think I shall be signing up to membership when I see Jay Tamkin tonight. wink )  Tickets can also be bought from Ticketweb and I've borrowed their narrative on Simon:

"Irishman Simon McBride evokes the spirit of such great bands as Free and Led Zeppelin As a player Simon has very much his own identifiable: a combination of high energy tone rich blues phrasing with more of a rock edge than many of the other players on the Nugene records label. Fans of hard rock players such as Michael Schenker, Viv Campbell and even hints of early to mid period Gary Moore will find much to enjoy here, along with the more usual bluesy suspects such as Walter Trout, Jeff Healey and the Joe Bonamassa."

Who's this new band "the Joe Bonamassa"? lol

More info and a youtube clip of Simon playing Little Wing is on Charlotte Street's website here: http://www.charlottestblues.com/special … n-mcbride/

Matt and anyone else who has or hasn't heard Simon or hasn't got his album, Rich Man Falling, I can't recommend it highly enough. If you like Joe I can guarantee you'll also like Simon. cool

Does that invitation extend to your Derek Trucks buddy Phil? Shame you're not going to see Jack Bruce but, as you say, Simon McBride showed great promise at the DT gig and I would also be interested to see him with his band.

Not sure if I can make it out twice in 2 days at the moment but I might if things go well. Is the Charlotte Street venue new? It's not one I know.

cheers
