Topic: Hey Joe ... See What you Started ? Joe, SRV, Eric, Keef

I'm a still a little ticked at the Joe Fender Goldie thing...

But now I see these.  The Fender Icon Series

They don't mention any names, but you can guess who
these were modeled after

Very surprised, the Stars name is not directly associated.
Then again, after the Goldie fiasco .....

Anyway, have a look
try to guess.....

Re: Hey Joe ... See What you Started ? Joe, SRV, Eric, Keef

you know these are what the road worn series ones should look like... have you ever seen those? The fretboard wear is so fake looking, and all of them have the same shape worn on the elbow rest. roll

Fender California could SQUASH unemployment in the state by giving all of the unemployed minimum wage to spend about 10 minutes banging, thrashing and relicing their guitars before sending them out. I guess it's easier to do when they are not yours big_smile

I sure hope the artists are recieving royalties for those guitars because if not, it's Goldie all over again! hmm  The SRV/Blackie Strats don't make sense seeing how Fender already offers multiple standard and custom shop offerings of both guitars...Oh well they look really nice!  Any idea of the prices?

That's blatantly obvious. "Icon" series.... like we don't know what that means. I have to admit... they do look nice, but that's just too obvious to say "well it could be a coincidence" I mean the sunburst is only missing three stickers (you know which ones) and it would be the exact same thing.

Yeah Eric - I know exactly what that means - my lawyers are on the case already lol

Just had a good look at the tele in the link - 4,000 bucks - you gotta be kidding!

I got myself a great Jap built 52 reissue special (with neck 'bucker) for £500 a couple of years back, ripped the low E off (more authentic than the Icon series) and tuned what's left to open G. Gives me all the Keef vibe I can handle through my Fender Tweed. Gets lots of admiring comments from other muso's who hear it too! Ok so it doesn't have that beat up look, but if I wanted to..........

Yeah these guitars are a joke, but lets be real EC, Keef, and certainly SRV won't really care at this point.

Re: Hey Joe ... See What you Started ? Joe, SRV, Eric, Keef

I don't think that sunburst strat looks like the SRV #1 strat. neutral
Blackie does look similar, and Keef I'm rather unfamiliar with...

Re: Hey Joe ... See What you Started ? Joe, SRV, Eric, Keef

I think the sunburst is a cross between SRV and Rory Gallager, and still it doens't really look reliced enough for any of that.  If it was SRV it would have a left handed bridge to it.  I honestly think if i was to have a new fender Ebay would be the best place for a relic job...  you can get american standards for under 500 bucks if you look hard enough.

Crikey, get this old geezer a chair. He's just about to collapse.

ROFL!  Man, somebody call an Orthopedic surgeon immediately, I think his right ankle snapped!  I use to never notice that Keef uses 5 strings only and uses weird tunings.  Still a great rhythm player and has written some great stuff.
