Topic: Guitar Heroes and Santana on BBC4 tonight, 10th July
Tonight's programmes on BBC4 features a repeat of Santana's 1976 recording on Sight & Sound in Concert at 10.00pm. Songs include Black Magic Woman, Oye Como Va and Soul Sacrifice. This is followed at 10.30-11.30pm with Even More Guitar Heroes at the BBC. A compilation of classic archive performances from the guitar gods of the late 60s and 70s. Status Quo appear playing Pictures of Matchstick Men on Top Of The Pops in 1968, the Who perform Long Live Rock in the Old Grey Whistle Test studio, Dire Straits play Tunnel Of Love and Lynyrd Skynyrd bring a taste of the south with Sweet Home Alabama. The show also features rare performances from George Benson, Leo Kottke, Link Wray and Tom Petty.
If I remember correctly, The Who mime badly to a track they recorded earlier in the day. I would question the title of this programme.
Next Friday's S&S features Gary Moore from his rocking days in the early 80s.
All times are BST (British Summer Time). Add 1 hour if you are in the rest of Europe.
