Topic: Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam Aurora, Illinois 6/19/09

Just thought I'd post some video and pictures that I took from an "impromptu" show that Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam put on after a violent storm closed the Blues On The Fox Festival this night. Luckily, Rev. Paul and I decided to hang around and have a drink or two with the band. The guys arranged this show on the spur of the moment at an Irish pub called "Bally Doyle" in Aurora. I'll post a full review of the show on another forum.

At least I know now who is with you on your new avatar. Looks like you had a great time - I´ll watch the videos as soon as I´m in a region with faster internet.
I´m sorry that Davy doesn´t play the Hot August Festival - would have been the first time to see him live.

Yes Günter,

I wish You, Eva and everyone else who is going to be at the HAB could see Davy, PK and Steve play. This show just sort of fell together within and hour or two after the outdoor festival was cancelled by the mayor of Aurora, Illinois. Davy and the entire crew where tearing down their equipment while it poured down rain; there was also lightning too. That really made me feel uneasy as Paul and I stayed out of the weather under an overhang of a store front. A 4 X 8 sheet of plywood went flying by like someone throwing a frisbee. However, we all met at this Irish pub and in the meantime, Davy's production manager arranged to have them follow Big James and the Chicago Playboys who were scheduled to play there after they opened for BDS. This is a very large club/restaurant and it was jam packed with people. Needless to say, when the show was over the club needed a new roof as the guys had blown it off! smile

Hey Gary,

Make the trip up to Milwaukee-Summerfest today. Get this, $2.00 admission from noon to 8:00 PM. Here's the line up on the Harley Davidson stage where Davy and BDS will be performing:

4:00 PM Tyler Bryant

6:00 PM Joel Pingitor & the Playground Sound

8:00 PM Davy Knowles & Back Door Slam

10:00 PM Buddy Guy

Rev. Paul said Tyler Bryant is a younger fellow out of Texas and a great guitar player. He played one of his CDs when we drove down to Aurora and the young man is quite good. Sounds a lot like Eric Steckel. The group at 6:00 PM I don't know at all, but a friend said they are suppose to be good too. Hey, hop in the car and join us!

By the way, I sure wish you would have made the drive. Considering the Aurora show all happened on the spur of the moment, it was something you really needed to experience. smile

Aurora was a great show.
I was in Madison the following Friday and he seemed a bit off.
Summerfest may have been the best show I have ever seen Davy do. Atleast equal to the original BDS in Naperville last Summer.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.
