Re: PC problems....

Macs have a reliability issue for sure. My were always going back, I have two business partners who have extended warranties and theirs are always going back. This is for the notebooks, I think the desk tops are much better. I am convinced it is to do with overheating, both of mine would run very hot to the touch.
I am pretty ok with changing components of windows based machines and parts are cheap. Mac are not so DIY friendly.
As said before we are very heavy users, if it can break we will break it lol

Any computer is expensive to fix out of warranty.  And they shouldn't be! Unfortunately somewhere along the lines of surface mount electronics acceptance years ago, just tossing out "old" consumer electronics and being sold (whether "sold on" or not) / "buying a "new one" became a new mantra.  Bring back good old fashioned durability.  Time to market is not so damn important these days...Who knows if there even IS a market, you know?! Reliability problem with a mac? Not a trend, perhaps your abuse is, ahem, tongue rough?! Vista (premium at least) is a breeze for slightly advanced users.  7 is moreso for average users.

Re: PC problems....

Passive heatsinking a laptop (placing on a surface that takes up the heat quickly and disperses it over a large and massive surface-WOOD is NOT good) saves it's life.  Using a fan also helps.  You can dress warmer, your laptop already has it's clothes off to cool off but needs constant help to stay cool. You know it burns your legs, so....

neutral You need to start treating your computers like your lenses...
