Topic: Chickenfoot

This sounds like an interesting project. Have a listen to the tracks on their MySpace page

Chickenfoot have announced a one-off UK show and their debut album details.“Chickenfoot”; the new rock supergroup comprised of drummer Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), bassist Michael Anthony (ex-Van Halen), guitarist Joe Satriani and vocalist Sammy Hagar (ex-Van Halen), today announced the global release of their debut album “Chickenfoot”. The album will be released by earMUSIC in Germany on June 5th and in the UK on Monday June 8th. The album will be released by Best Buy in the U.S. on Sunday June 7th.

The album coincides with a European tour that will consist of outdoor festivals, including Montreaux, Switzerland, and Bospop, Holland, plus various intimate indoor rock shows including the London O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on June 25th.

Tickets for the London 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire concert go on sale at 9am on Friday March 27th. This will be Chickenfoot’s only UK date on the European tour.

The debut album will be packaged in heat sensitive artwork, which means when you put hour hand on the CD inlay, photos of the band members will be revealed behind the Chickenfoot band logo. “People have this idea of what this band is about, or what Sammy Hagar is about as a lyricist and a vocalist,” says Joe Satriani. “We manage to get each guy to up his game in a non-confrontational way. When I play with Chickenfoot, I want to give them more all the time, and I don’t hold anything back. I think the rest of the guys feel the same way.” “Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers is from Detroit and he can play the hell out of funk, but he’s a rocker,” says Sammy Hagar. “He plays hard and he’s balanced. Chickenfoot wouldn’t exist without his groove.”

Re: Chickenfoot

Here's a Chickenfoot thing that's not from Music Radar, for a change...

'Burying the Hatchet' tour to feature Van Halen, Chickenfoot

LOS ANGELES - It's finally happening. In what is certainly one of the most surprising moves in rock 'n' roll, VAN HALEN has announced a fall 2009 U.S. tour with support from newly formed supergroup CHICKENFOOT.

"Van Halen has patched things up with its former members, and this tour -- 'Burying The Hatchet', we're calling it -- is a reflection of that," said guitarist EDDIE VAN HALEN.

Eddie's current bandmates include his son, bassist WOLFGANG VAN HALEN, original vocalist DAVID LEE ROTH, and drummer ALEX VAN HALEN, and they will be touring in support of a forthcoming greatest hits package.

Chickenfoot traces its origins to the short-lived supergroup PLANET US -- NEAL SCHON and DEEN CASTRONOVO of Journey, SAMMY HAGAR and MICHAEL ANTHONY of Van Halen, and solo guitar virtuoso JOE SATRIANI -- and will be releasing its self-titled debut album in Best Buy retail stores across the United States on June 9.

The Chickenfoot album features the lineup of Hagar, Anthony, Satriani, and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer CHAD SMITH, but the band has different plans for the tour.

"With its tours over the last two years, Van Halen fans have shown that they're comfortable with change," says Hagar, who replaced Roth as lead singer in 1986. "They kicked me out of the band in 1996, and Mikey was forced out a few years later. It's about time we did something just as crazy."

Just how crazy? Satriani's 17-year-old son Z.Z. will be playing bass with the band.

"When I first heard that Wolfgang would be playing bass in Van Halen a few years ago, I have to admit I was shocked," says Satriani. "But then I realized my son is just about the same age. If Eddie's OK with it, I should be fine with it as well."

Satriani's son is no stranger to performing, having played sax on his 2008 album, Professor Satchafunkilus And The Musterion Of Rock, and bowed bass on the song Bamboo, from 2004's Is There Love In Space? (Another track from that album, If I Could Fly, made headlines recently when Satriani sued the band COLDPLAY, saying their song Viva La Vida infringes on his song.)

Not only have Van Halen and Chickenfoot both recently fired their bassists, but they also have something else in common: Roth and Hagar toured together in 2002.

Former Van Halen and Chickenfoot bassist Anthony won't be left out in the cold this fall. His side project, the MAD ANTHONY XPRESS, will be opening select shows on the "Burying The Hatchet" tour.

The Van Halen greatest hits collection, BEST OF: VOLUME II, is scheduled for release September 15 on Warner Bros. Records. It spans the Roth-led years, 1978-1984, and will only feature the songs from the Roth era that are already available on both 1996's BEST OF: VOLUME I and 2004's BEST OF BOTH WORLDS.

Chickenfoot's album will be re-released the same day, in every retail outlet in the U.S. excluding Best Buy.

Ticket prices range from $19.84 to $51.50 and go on sale April 1, 2009

THATS TODAY APRIL 1 YOU FOOLS!!!!!!!

OK mikeb I'll own up and admit I fell for it (just for a little while you understand). And this is the guy who sent his son off to school saying "watch out, don't let anyone play any tricks of you". Right big_smile

Re: Chickenfoot

If anyone wants tickets for the Chickenfoot show at the Shepherd Bush Empire (the only UK date) you'd better get a move on. There are no tickets available now through TicketWeb/venue box office but SEEtickets do still have stalls standing at GBP 29.50

Re: Chickenfoot

Here is a link to a review of their show in Toronto last night.

http://www.torontosun.com/entertainment … 1-sun.html

I'd say the Toronto Sun thing was a pretty fair assessment.

They were fun, having fun, and awesome. Did not realize what a mofo Chad is on skins. Sammy was in fine voice, Joe was Joe, awesome and spot on. He played both the Lord and Blackmore parts to Highway Star to perfection. Glad to see Michael Anthony having fun again.... If you are seeing foot in a small venue, bring earplugs. Joe is nowhere near as high in the mix as you are used to, there is more of a general din making it difficult to differentiate the parts and Sammy and Mike can still scream like banshees.

Renewed aquaintances with Mick, told him I was surprised to see him there as I was told it was all/mostly Sammy's peeps around this tour. Mick assured me 'Foot will be back in a bigger venue come the fall. (Hopefully I can have a sit and grin with the boys at that time)Yes, Alex (Lifeson) was off stage beside Joe and everyone kept looking over that way and grinnin during the show. If everyone did go partying with Alex, no one turned up with a broken nose and black eyes at least.

All in all a good night and snagged a Joe plectrum to boot....

CD is supposed to be out today(June 5th) per all of the advertising last night on the Pens/Redwings game on Tv.
I think it's a Best Buy promotion because they are the ones who did the commercial...
On the new announced tour site Chickenfoot is coming to the Sandcastle venue in Pittsburgh August 5th (Wednesday)...:)
I'll be there....and yes GO PENS!!!!!!  Wow what a game last night-unbelievable to say the least.

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........
