Topic: Lacrosse

I just got back from helping coach an 8th grade Lacrosse team at a state-wide tournament in Denver today. I'm just wondering if anyone knows of or is into the wonderful sport. It is really big on the East Coast and is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. I strongly suggest sitting down and watching a game sometime (although college just ended... but pro is still in action). It is fast like basketball and hockey, has contact like football, and has complex passing/ offense like soccer... perfect to watch in my opinion.

BTW, anyone who is into the sport... HOW ABOUT THAT CORNELL/ SYRACUSE GAME?!?!?!?!?!?!? wow...

Re: Lacrosse

Does the pitch have no boundaries other than the size of the venue ?
I seem to remember that from way back.

No not in normal Lacrosse (outdoor). Indoor has that rule, but I'm not a fan of that personally. It is fun to watch that, but playing it is not as much fun.

Glad to see that people know of this. I love the game.

Re: Lacrosse

I'm from Syracuse where college basketball may be king but lacrosse just keeps on winning us national championships, almost too many to count. Btw if anyone out there is a serious lacrosse freak, check out the records from West Genesee High School in Syracuse,NY. Go Orange.

Re: Lacrosse

Wow, those Orangemen are unbelievable when it comes to exciting games!!!

I never even heard of lacrosse until  maybe 8 years ago and its huge on the east coast.  Our local high school girls lacrosse have been state champions for eight straight years since 2000.  They now trump every other sport at the school...it ticks alot of the boys off...their practice schedule always gets altered in bad weather for girls lacrosse.  With title 9 laws, most of the girls have signed off on scholarships by junior year to power house colleges.

JBSRV - our winning lacrosse coach was head hunted and moved to Colorado a few years ago to spread the popularity of girls lacrosse.

OH, I certainly know Syracuse!!! Lacrosse has been HUGE in Maryland for decades. My brother went to  Hopkin's....(Bet that rings a bell). Then we also have U of M, Towson State,  and Navy. THEN, there's the ladies.... Great sport and another reason we need to thank the American Indians!!!!!!!!

Thanks for being a coach..you will have a life long effect on those kids. I can't stream video or I'd love to watch.             Cathy
