Re: Covers you would love to hear Joe do

You may all think I'm bonkers but I'm still holding out for the song below. Just wait till Joe pulls out the acoustic at RAH and breaks into:

Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
gonna grab some afternoon delight.
My motto's always been; when it's right, it's right.
Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night.
When everything's a little clearer in the light of day.
And you know the night is always gonna be there any way.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite
looking forward to a little afternoon delight.
Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite
and the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Started out this morning feeling so polite
I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite
But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling
a little afternoon delight.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

Please be waiting for me baby when I come around.
We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down.

Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, I would love to hear Joe have a go at " Little Wing"
Loved Hendrix, and even more the SRV version.

When  heard the SRV instrumental version of Little Wing the first time I got shivers down my spine - I still do (play it LOUD!).
It's one of very few tracks by anybody that move me that much - I've always doubted that anyone else could even get near it.
But then along comes this guy called Joe - who knows what he could do with it?

Come on Joe - for the next album?

I'd like to hear Joe and the band cover some of the old Free songs: Fire and Water, Mr. Big, Heartbreaker, Oh I Wept.

Since we're dreaming here, how about Paul Rodgers and Joe getting together and re-doing the old Free songs?

Re: Covers you would love to hear Joe do

I would love to hear "In The Ghetto" by Elvis Presley , Lyrically That song has so much emotion , i knoe Joe could do it justice

Yes that would be great! The Hunter would be a fun one too.

Glad someone else is banging on about this too. Andy Fraser was quoted last year as being up for it, Simon Kirke too. They were waiting on a shift from Paul, and now he's supposed to be doing more with Bad Company this year. I think a Free reunion is on, perhaps if Paul's committments allow even next year. All they need is a guitar player who digs the music and can bring that special something to it. Joe, would for me, be the perfect choice.

Add to that list "Be my Friend", "Im a Mover", "Stealer", I'll be Creepin', "Heartbreaker", pretty much the whole catalogue really. I just missed out on Free the first time around. I would love the chance to hear and see the next best thing to the original line up.

Tripod, I've bumped up this thread so you can see the previous suggestions. So interesting ideas there, but I don't think Joe would cover SRV -  he tires at the comparisons. Parisienne Walkways is very much a signature tunefor Gary, but I'd love to hear Joe record the slow version of Don't Believe A Word smile

Re: Covers you would love to hear Joe do

Id like his spin on 'Still In Love With You' by Thin Lizzy - ooooh those solos would be good - maybe some nice keyboard sounds going on there too!

Re: Covers you would love to hear Joe do

yeah, actually i would love to see Joe playing some Peter Green, GM and Thin Lizzy songs...they are perfect for him.

Jumpin at Shadows... for example....it would be great to hear that tune from Joe

I Can't Wait Until Tomorrow... that's a perfect song for Joe!

Thin Lizzy!!! My fav band ever!!

If Joe did Still In Love With You I might actually explode.

I'd try to wait until after Joe offers me the guest guitar spot on that one though! (yeah right!!)

Wow... I started this thread back in June 2006, and can't believe its still alive. It's funny now there are very, very many bands doing Joe covers!!! Try as they may, there will only be one JOE BONAMASSA! Thanks for your input!

Re: Covers you would love to hear Joe do

At this point I don't know how an srv comparison could be made.  I never thought they were that similar, but since he has become a full on lp guitarist he sounds about as dissimilar as a guy can from srv while still being a good player.
