In Glasgow it was earlier than that.
Ben Montague came on around 7.20 until 8.00 then  Joe came on at 8.20 and was off stage around 10.30.

This was also the case in Gateshead:

There was support, forget his name.. Jow came on at 8:20 ish and was off at about 10:30.

Please don't assume Joe will be coming on at 8.45

Yeh, really felt for Ben Montague, he opened his set at Sheffield with only about 25% of the hall in place. His set was excellent, he has a great voice. People were getting to their seats throughout his performance, which must be distracting to say the least. I personally think it is very rude not to give a support artist a fighting chance of making a name by arriving late for a concert. Start times are clearly marked on all tickets. Make an evening of it. I've seen some really excellent support bands / artists over the years. People were even finding their seats after Joe's set started. Not a problem with an all standing gig, but at an all seater - it's a real pain in the buttocks for those already seated. Sorry, I'll get me coat!

I wholly agree my friend.  7 years ago when Joe Bonamassa was opening in support of Bad Company and Foreigner, I had bought a bunch of tickets to drop onto unsuspecting and insisted we get there early.  Unbelievably, they all headed for the beer garden and parked...one of my worst ever JoeMotional events...actually I guess the worst, one only convert that night in New York.  Solidified my efforts from then on.  ....Hmmmm, I believe that may have been the time & year the original forum took off?  Oh, well why miss out? Always give someone a chance! It may be "like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna git"... Sometimes surprises happen, you know?!

he is paying his dues.  that really isn't all that different than the experience of every opening band i have ever seen.  people pay to see the headliner 9 times out of 10, you can't blame the audience.  the opener rarely figures in when deciding to see a gig.  if it is someone you have heard of or like just consider it a free bonus.
