Topic: GREEN DAY!!!!!!!!!!

YES! They're back, my heroes are back, oh GOSH was I happy hearing all the new info on their comeback, almost had me in tears: THATS how happy I was! I've been a fan for almost 5 years now, I only heard of them from American Idiot, but thats coz I was too young before, but whether people like the new material or not, I certainly will! I can always tell when its true Green Day, and it sure is. To have your biggest influence coming back with a new album is astonishing news, and I was overjoyed! This band literally saved my life, in a time when I was severely bullied and sick and tired of not sure on life, these guys came in to my life and turned it around. I could never thank Billie Joe enough, and with every guitarist that influences me, I also look up to them, however, Billie Joe Armstrong is who started it all for me. Me and my drummer Andy were ecstatic last night, on the phone to each other, talking about booking tickets for them in 02, London, and I really cant wait! To have the chance to see the very thing that CHANGED YOUR LIFE is something you cannot miss out on, so yeah, in high spirits, cant wait for the album yadayadayada... Peace

Re: GREEN DAY!!!!!!!!!!

I was in HS when Dookie came out. Every song on that album is a hit. The album is reminiscent of the days when Mtv actually PLAYED videos. Green Day helped rock get a little more away from flannel and grunge in their own punky way. Very high energy and great power trio.

Re: GREEN DAY!!!!!!!!!!

I liked green day growing up.  I liked them for what they were, I don't really like what they've become.  I feel if you are going to do political stuff in music, you have to be a good lyricist and songwriter.  I am not at all against it, in fact I love it, putting strong opinions into your music, if you do it well.  I guess what I'm saying is I loved Green Day when i was growing up becuase they seemed to embrace what they were, three music limited dudes who loved to rock and have fun.  I guess I can't blame them for trying something new, but American idiot fell flat for me.

Hey i am glad to hear it to Russell! I feel my life has also been enhanced by Green Day. Not the same ways as you of course but their music has definitely been empowering for me and also very enjoyable. I know that i don't know exactly how it was for you but I had similar feelings when i discovered blues-blues-rock at a particularly down and out time in my life and truly do have to credit it for helping me climb up out of that downess. For me it was discovering SRV and some Clapton that gave me a new faith and way to open my eyes to better things and ways. Was real sad to never get to see SRV play or even thank him for his music in person but anyway it eventually led me to Joe's music which also has greatly enchanced my life and helps me keep it positive.
Anyway can't wait to hear new Green Day and now i will think of you when I hear the Bullet in the bible version "will the representatives from ......"

Yeah, same here with Joe smile It opened a whole new door into music for me. I have many influences in my playing (players I look up to AND learn from haha), including: Jimi Hendrix, Slash, Paul Gilbert, Gary Moore, Scott Gorham, and many others, but of course, Joe was a massive step forward into other forms of music I hadnt even heard before. He was, is, and always will be a true inspiration to me.

Re: GREEN DAY!!!!!!!!!!

Green Day is a great band that I think oftentimes gets bashed for a lot of reasons, most of them due to stupidity. I think they're actually a very good band with great songs. Billy Joe might not be the best guitar player in the world but the bassist and the drummer are freakin' fantastic. Just listen to Longview. Nuff said.
