Re: JCM 800 vs. DSL2000
On his last studio CD I read a guitar world or gutiar player mag that said that some record producer came into the studio and was blown away by the tone he heard on one of Jeff's cuts when they asked him what he was using he said, "My Strat and a DSL 2000." Nothing more! The producer seemed disappointed and walked off after that. Although I can't for the life of me remember what CD it was I can tell you it was recent or in the last 5 years anyway.

I'm pretty sure that Jeff was using the JCM2000s exclusively on the albums "Who Else?!" and "Jeff" both of them were some of his more dance/electronica/rock albums. I'm not big on that techno type music the tones and playing on those two are out of this world. Beck has to be one of the most radically diverse guys out there. It's amazing to hear how his playing has progressed over the years from "Truth" and "Beck-ola" all the way to today. I also heard he sets the treble almost maxed out on his DSL's !! and then just uses the tone control on his bridge pickup almost completely off. What a weird way to set an amp/guitar but it obviously works!
