Topic: London's Pop Up Potties

I think the forum members headed to the RAH may be a bit startled when they see the solution they've come up with in London to solve the problem of public urination. I caught a news story last night showing these pop up 3 way urinals that come up out of the ground at a certain time at night in an effort to provide pub patrons a place to go rather than using some shop owners doorway. These are not exactly private stalls so some of you maybe taken aback if you observe someone using one. Two women were interviewed in the piece and were not pleased that they only accomodate men. Perhaps some of our Brit members can expand on this unique system. The town of Walnut Creek here in the East Bay where I grew up had to step up police patrols around bar closing time as many younger male bar patrons were relieving themselves anywhere they felt like. London may be on to something. In Ca. if you get caught at this practice you not only pay a ticket fine, but the court can take it a step further and charge you with indecent exposure and require you to register as a sex offender which almost happened to a friend of mine who thought nobody was lookin' when he went behind a tree on a golf course one day.

Re: London's Pop Up Potties

It's a pretty good idea...that would never fly in California though. The courts wouldn't see a difference between illegal public urination and legal...

This is semi-related, but interesting in my opinion...coming from the idea that European countries are much more open to public nudity (France in particular), I've proposed that we ban clothes in the U.S.  I estimate we'll see at LEAST a 50% drop in obesity when you're not allowed to cover your gut. It promotes a healthier lifestyle, and sunscreen manufacturers and gym owners are sure to love it...just a fun idea.

Loved the music in the video on Youtube, it makes it seem like the rising toilet is some sort of ancient holy artifact tongue
