Topic: Hello everyone

Hi everyone, I'm Anne.  Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself before the long-awaited RAH weekend.

I have been a Joe fan for just over a year, when my son invited me along to a gig with him in Morecambe. I said 'Joe who?' but went anyway as I love live music and trust my son's taste.  I was totally unprepared for my reaction to hearing this guy, but having read the forum, I know you all understand that one!  I became hooked on youtube as I trawled it for all things Joe, and went to the Liverpool and Manchester gigs later in the year,  meeting up with some very kind forum-members who let us share an evening of disappointment (and wine!) when the Manchester gig was cancelled, and took me under their wing when I had to travel alone for the rescheduled one.

Although this is my first post on here, I feel I know you guys already and I am looking forward to meeting those of you lucky enough to be able to attend the RAH.  It's taken me this long to pluck up the courage to post (technophobe) but I'm glad I did. Thanks for the encouragement, Tripsy!

Re: Hello everyone

Re: Hello everyone

Welcome Anne.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it here - I know I've been made to feel very welcome.

You're obviously excited about seeing Joe at the RAH. There may be one or two people here who feel the same way smile so you're in good company.

cheers

David

Re: Hello everyone

Hi Luv
I have also had to get over shyness/ technophobia, but Tripsy and other people have made me feel very welcome.
You're in safe hands here, I have already learnt so much about Joe and found lots more good music to look at on U-tube.
To be honest, reading this message board has not only restored my interest in music which has kept me (almost) sane all my life (but had gone a bit stale lately) but it's also restored my faith in humanity smile

Re: Hello everyone

Hi Anne,
I can finally say to you 'Welcome to the forum'. So glad you have overcome your shyness smile
Yes, I remember that night in Manchester, when what was supposed to be a night of fantastic live music turned into one of wine drinking and getting to know new friends. A pretty good consolation I think and then we got to meet up again for the real thing....even better!
Can't wait til we all meet up again in London.

See you soon

Tripsy smile

Re: Hello everyone

Hi Anne

A big welcome to the forum. big_smile
Seems you already know it's chokka with nice people.

I'm in Lancashire as well.........but from Yorkshire originally.
I do like living this side of the big hill.
I'm crossing it soon to see Joe at Sheffield.

If you're a "technophobe", you might not know that you can download the vids on Youtube and others using Realplayer and then copy the sound part onto CD to play in the car.
Then again you might !!

Maybe see you at RAH.

Ges.

Re: Hello everyone

Hey Anne - and welcome to the forum! smile

Did you attend the Liverpool gig last July?! My mum and I were there too and she had the same kind of experience like you when seeing her first show. I think before she went to a show herself she might have considered sending her daughter to a doctor (though she´s a psychotherapist herself...) for loving a Band that much ... lol BUT then she saw the guys play and now she´s a fan herself and is coming to the RAH (like the rest of my family).

Hope you like this place and I´m looking forward to seeing you at the RAH !

Re: Hello everyone

Hi Anne

Had to drop by and say hello after hearing you too sufferred that wettest of Manchester nights back in September.
You were luckier than me and Mrs Icon thogh, being tempted into a session by Tripsy and friends soundslike a decent outcome. We'd had such an awful journey up from Stafford in torrential rain that when we heard the gig was off, we were too - before we had to hire a boat! Well it WAS Manchester. big_smile

At least Joe made up for it with a fantastic rescheduled gig.

As for the forum, I was very much like you - dropping by regularly to find out what is happening in the JB universe until I finally plucked up the courage to join in - and guess what? - it's a great place to be!

Ian

Please be in no doubt that this is the REAL ME! Beware imposters........................

HMM yes thankyou Ges (sorry to hog Anne's intro post) but that's just the kind of thing I need to know. MERCI smile

Re: Hello everyone

Welcome, Anne! I vaguely remember that feeling of shyness about jumping into something on internet that you've never done before, t'was a long time ago for me! The best advice is simply to dive in and express yourself. You've made an excellent start with a splendid introduction and a photo avatar!

Ask Wooders to make you a name tag and join us at the pre-RAH meet up (see general forum).

On a point of order Mr. Chairman, Real Player only works for downloading from YOutube with IE (Internet Exlporer) - sadly, not with Firefox 3.

Hi Eva,

Yes, we were at the same gig in Liverpool, my son Adam and I were just a few feet away from you at the front of the stage. A guy onstage said there were fans from Holland in the audience and you called out 'Germany!'.  You and your companions looked like you were really enjoying the evening! I arrived home the next day, logged on to the forum for the first time and recognised you from your avatar picture. Someone also had posted a photo of the audience from that gig and I was in it! I loved that! I have been hooked on this forum ever since then.

I'm so glad to finally be brave enough to post! Thanks for your kind welcome, hope to meet you and your family in May.

Anne

Re: Hello everyone

Welcome are you going down to the RAH the day before, if so we are having a 'forum' get together at the the Aynsley Lister gig at Dingwalls. You would of course be very very welcome and in the company of a great bunch of like minded people smile

Hi Jessicat

Couldn't have put it better myself! I feel exactly the same about a renewed interest in music, for a while back there I'd practically given up on it, but seeing Joe live and reading the forum messages has kick-started it all up again for me.  I was beginning to think I'd become a little crazy and obsessive, but Tripsy set me straight about that, she told me the forum was full of like-minded people, total Joe-fiends. (Tripsy - you were right!) so I'm just loving my new-found obsession!

Thanks Martin. We will be in London from saturday 2nd May, and we've already got our Aynsley tickets!  I shall look out for all the people in Joe t-shirts and introduce myself. See you there!

How cool is that?! Do you have a link to the audience picture? Maybe we´re in the same picture if we stood so near to each other... wink

Is your son Adam also coming to the RAH? It´s only 2 weeks left now ... I´m getting SO excited ...!
Great that you´re also coming to Aynsley Listers show - looking forward to see you there! smile

I can imagine that exactly... lol lol lol

A warm welcome from me too Anne!
This is a great place to hang around. Here and there Joe chimes in himself.
More in the gear section where I also mostly hang around.
Enjoy. smile

Re: Hello everyone

Hi Anne

A welcome from me too though I've only just joined smile. Nice to see so many people from the NW of England around here. I missed Joe's concert in Liverpool but will be sure to be going to any around here in the future. Will be at the RAH on Monday. It's going to be a special night I think.
