Topic: Dirt in my pocket ?

Hello to all ! I'm new to the forum site. My ? is .... Has any one ever seen  Joe & the band do "Dirt in my pocket". I've seen them  just three times (all amazing shows!)in the last 1 1/2 years (New York area), and regretfully that song was never played. If you have ,where & when and how was the song live. I had spoken to some of the crew after a show and was told that Joe doesn't play it. Too bad , that song is just "HOT & NASTY"!!! Thanks, Craig

Re: Dirt in my pocket ?

I can't say for sure but since it's from Sloe Gin it was probably played during the Sloe Gin tour last year. I think last time he was here in Sweden, April last year, he probably played it. I can guarantee it was awesome even though I don't remember tongue

Re: Dirt in my pocket ?

Hi, and welcome Craig. To mind knowledge Joe has never played it, which is a shame as it is easily one of my top three songs from Sloe Gin

I'd love to hear him play it, but i'm guessing it would need two guitar players at once to get it right, but I'd be happy for Joe to prove me otherwise...!

I bet Joe could make one guitar sound like two playing at the same time.  When we recently saw Derek Trucks he was playing lead and rhythm at the same time (don't ask me how he manages that little trick but he does!)

Black Night is still my favorite from that album.

Interesting comment that Phil, I wonder why?

Personally I think it is a really good song about Joe and where he is or was when he recorded it. It could be said some of the lyrics were quite personal but that's the case on a few of his more recent songs too.

Yes Sandy, Black Night is great too, and my other favourite is Another Kind of Love, Joe's quick vibrato on the solos is very reminiscent of Peter Green's style, I wonder if it was done in tribute as Joe did record it with his 1959 Les Paul re-issue.

Re: Dirt in my pocket ?

Thanks to all that got back to me!  Regretfully,I have to agree with PCornells reply..."He doesn't like it". That was what I had heard at a show,...too bad,I won't get my hopes up for ever hearing it live. (Note to Zampraz)--the SLOE GIN Tour was the show I saw & was hoping to hear it at.That was in the fall of 2007 in Staten Island. The following week he played at BBKings in NYC, which was sold out. Next show was at BBs-fall of 2008 (the Live Album) and the latest was out on Long Island just last month(3/09-The John Henry tour). For me,this last show was "best",the band & crew(sound)went above and beyond, another top notch show!! But still no "DIRT". Oh well, thanks Craig

FWIW - this is not speculation on my part.
