Topic: they cal it stormy monday

Was not sure what heading to put this under. Last night I was listening to stuff I had not played for a while.
On about three occasions Stormy Monday cropped up. The song seems to have been covered many times with different versions.
I was wondering which version would be a favourite of forum members, maybe you can recommend versions by others which would be worth collecting.
One of my favourites is by Chris Farlowe, recorded under the name of 'Little Joe Cook'.

Cheers

You are right, there have been quite a few. A good more recent version of it was done by Greg Koch on his Live On The Radio album.

I would agree with Duncan that Greg Koch does a great version of this song with Malford Milligan on lead vocals. Of course, Malford was with the group Storyville at one time and the word is that he may have reloacted from his roots in Texas to the Milwaukee area. Funny, I had to edit my post, because I realized that I did record Greg, Malford and Band performing this song at Summerfest this past summer. Here it is, sorry for the camera shake and I ran out of DVD space:

I guess my favorite version of this song goes back to Muddy Waters' live version off his double live CD set. The CD is called Muddy "Mississippi" Waters Live. The first CD was recorded live when Johnny Winter joined his band. The second CD was recorded live with his origianl band. Both CDs capture what I consider some of Muddy's best performances. Here's more info on the CD:

If you purchase it, make sure you get the "Remasterd" version.

T Bone Walker.

After that Bobby Bland and Allman Brothers

After that 2 duets...BB & Albert Collins and Albert King & Lil Stevie

Most versions are good because the song is good.
