Topic: Oumar Sagna Sindoolaa....

I really saw a very entertaining African Band perform this past Saturday night. Their name is "Oumar Sagna Sindoolaa" and I must tell you that during their entire performace, I sat with a smile on my face. Each song, although performed in their native tongue, are songs of celebration and truly lift one's spirits. There were lavish costumes, dancing and wonderful music to compliment the singing. If you get a chance to see this group, please take advantage of that opportunity. I was asked by the promoter of the show not to shoot video of this group, so hopefully these pictures will give you an idea of how truly wonderful it was. It's probably viewed best clicking "Slideshow" on the right above the pictures:

Yes, there is a lot of wonderful African music: Salif Keita, Manu Dibango, Ali Farka Toure ,not to speak of the South Africans like Hugh Masekela, Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand) and Thomas Mapfumo. Besides Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal playing with African bands Bonnie Raitt has realized the power of South African-style guitars ("Hear me Lord" on Silver Lining).
