Topic: Milwaukee - March 8, 2009

Here's a link to some photos I shot at the Milwaukee show:

I think it's best as a slideshow - upper right of page.

This was the first time I ever sat on the right side facing the stage so I got some angles that were different for me. I rather liked it, especially with the way the band is set up now.

Re: Milwaukee - March 8, 2009

VERY nice set Lee. Interesting angle too, providing some great expressions not normally seen from the front. However do miss not deeing the face of the guitars on some pics. ISO is very high, which doesn't detract at all from the pictures. The D40 does the job really well. I'd be framing quite a few of those. Looks like you've cropped some, am I right? Great work, Well done!

Joe's style is coming along nicely. His new tailor has got rid of the baggy ankles now. LOL! Very smart!

Re: Milwaukee - March 8, 2009

Great pictures again Lee!

I had to smile at the one toward the end with Tallan up on stage. I'm filming and the shorter woman standing next to me with the red sweater on and her mouth wide open is my niece Jenni. It was her first time seeing Joe live and she really, really had a great time. She needed it too since she spent most of the week at her Dad's bedside in a hospital. They thought he had suffered a massive stroke, but is actually recovering. She told me that Joe played her very favorite song "Mountain Time" that night and it made me smile to see her smile so big. Isn't it great that Joe's music can make a person forget the hard times in life even if it is just for a short time? Great Stuff! smile

Lee , you must be very happy with that set , cos i think that is the best i've truthfully ever seen , the quality and clarity is superb and would grace a JB Tour Programme , as Geoff said the angles and actual momentary captures are real classy
Thanks Lee

Re: Milwaukee - March 8, 2009

Steve,

My family are all a bunch of nuts and Lynn my oldest sister who is Jenni's mom, told me after the show that she was waving her arms up in the air and really having a great time. Jenni is a ball of fun and she's more of a friend than a Uncle/Niece thing. She calls me Roy instead of "Uncle Roy" as most of my nieces and nephews do. The funny thing is they make their own children, my great nieces and nephews, call me "Uncle Roy".

You know, somehow it figures you would be the one to be high-fiving Jenni. smile

Here's a picture of her with Tallan from the night:

Cute hey? By the way, I'm her Godfather too. smile

Geoff, I did very little cropping actually. If I did crop, it wasn't much. The zoom lens I was using (18-250mm) allows me to cover an extremely wide range. From any particular angle I may take a number of shots at different focal lengths, depending on what I see at the moment. I also shot the vast majority of the photos with the camera tilted 90 degrees. One of these days I'll get smart and invest in a battery grip to make things easier!

The thing I liked best about where I was positioned is that the background was for the most part black, which allowed Joe to be highlighted very easily.

Thanks Lee, I was looking at the additional info on a couple of shots in flickr where the picture was in portrate, yet the description said horizontal, that was all. Really top notch shots my friend!
