Topic: Show at the Ogden Theater in Denver, Friday, 3/13

I can't believe that nobody has said anything about the show at the Ogden this last Friday. So here goes. The sold-out show started just after 8:00 PM with Joe looking very sharp in a dark grey suit and the signature shades. He looked great and started with Ballad Of John Henry. He certainly got the crowd going, being that we have not seen him here in Denver for some time. We were fortunate enough to have front row, center seats right down in front of Joe. We could not have had a better view.
The band was tight and everyone looked good and sounded great. The Ogden has really good sound which played well for Joe and the band. Joe really does a great job of connecting with the audience and stopped after a few songs to talk to the crowd.  he told the story of the first time he and his band came to Denver and played at a small venue on S.Broadway with a second act of drums and tuba. Only about 10 people were there and they were thinking of packing it up but decided to play for those of us who did come to hear them. It was my first Joe Show and we were able to talk to Joe and the band a lot in between sets and after the show. The rest of the set list on Friday included:
Last Kiss
So Many Roads
Mt. Time
Another Kind Of Love
Sloe Gin
Great Flood
Lonesome Road Blues
Happier Times
Your Funeral My Trial
Blues Deluxe
Woke Up Dreaming
Just Got Paid
***Encore***
Ball Peen Hammer
Story Of A Quarry Man
Asking Around For You
Of course he did a few acoustic songs and he also had a very cool new toy that he used to distort his guitar sound with an antenna sticking out the top. All in all a very good show that from our vantage point, everyone enjoyed. Thanks so much to Joe and the band for coming back to Denver. Only wish we could have said hello to him, but they were on the bus and out of town quickly to Salt Lake City. We really are looking forward to seeing the guys in August at the Mile High Blues Festival. We're trying to get our buddy Bill Masullo to come down to join us.  Thanks again Joe, Dave and Mary

I was there. The most amazing version of "Woke Up Dreaming" I've ever heard. It was a great show... Joe was on FIRE!!!!!! So was the band.

Re: Show at the Ogden Theater in Denver, Friday, 3/13

Traveled all the way from Omaha, NE, for this show, and of course I was not disappointed.  Brought a couple of friends along, both of whom have seen Joe before, and both of them said he's only gotten better.

A Bonavirgin next to us was totally blown away.  You know the reaction, right?  "How have I not heard of this guy before?"  I love those moments.

I heartily agree with Kawika about the sound mix.  Too often, I find, Joe's vocals get a little lost, but not at the Ogden.  Crystal clear.  I only wish Rick's keyboards had been just a bit louder.

But yeah, a great show.

Oh yeah, we were there and thought the show was greeeaaatt!!!  We were upstairs front right.

We brought 5 friends with us, one who became a Joe convert with seeing him tour for Sloe Gin, and 4 new fans.  As you guys all know, the new fans were like "How come we've never heard of this guy?".

Hubby and I thought Joe personally looked great...hmm, haven't seen him since Winter Park last summer but BOY, that boy has lost some significant weight (his face is so much thinner..).  So much so that we looked at each other when he came out and weren't sure it was him for a few seconds!!!  Ok, I admit I haven't been on here for awhile so this is probably old news right??

See you guys in August for the blues fest right???  Should be good since he won't be in Winter Park this time...

yessssssssss i was there!!! I flew from San Francisco to Denver to have the best day in my life...why??? For two reasons : it was the best Joe's gig i've ever seen with a fantastic audience and i was the only one who got the backstage that night, i can consider myself a lucky 17yo italian guy!!!! Thank you so much Carmine for having let me go with you and Joe for always being so friendly and nice with me!!! wink
