Re: The Answer - Live at Dingwalls

This IS the best newer band out right now. I listen to the live Xmas cd all the time.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Re: The Answer - Live at Dingwalls

Meanwhile they´ve made it to Germany: together with Eva I´ve seen them yesterday in Stuttgart - the venue is called "Röhre" (tube) and it looks like that: a former street tunnel all in black, a bit wrotten, not too many people.
But wow, these guys made a perfect show. They are live even better as on CD. I´m sure Eva will write the details. I enjoyed the compact and powerful playing of the band. It´s simply nice young guys, uncomplicated, having fun together. We both thought that they are not really top players but that they build a very solid and dynamic grounding for the singer. If a certain former Led Zep singer wouldn´t be still alive touring with Allison I´ll bet any amount that Cormac Neeson is the reincarnation of Robert Plant.

I look forward to reading the review from Eva. Did you get to meet them after? They are the nicest guys. Still quite young so they have time to improve, although as individual players I find them more than proficient. You are lucky they play 3 headline shows in the South but nothing for us in the North. I think they are in Bremen tonight with AC/DC. Sadly no chance for a ticket......:(

Re: The Answer - Live at Dingwalls

Awesome show yesterday ... I can see why there´s such a hype about these guys. I already liked their album, but of course it´s something else to see them live.  Cormac Neeson IS Robert Plant Jr., I´m sure he´s his unofficial son or something ... that guy is unreal, there must be pure Rock´n´Roll running through his veins.
Like my dad said – I thought that the band´s playing was decent and rocking, but the focus is clearly on the singer. Or let´s say they work together very well as a band, but it doesn´t happen too often that I only watch the singer instead of the guitar player ... But I guess if you´re used to the playing of a Joe Bonamassa, you´re kind of spoiled when it comes to guitar playing. lol
The show was short but tight and they didn´t stop rocking for one second ... I couldn´t grab a setlist at the end of the show, but they mainly played new material – „Too far gone“ and „Cry out“ stood out for me ...  those are really powerful songs and had the crowd rocking right from the start. „Come follow me“ from the first album was another highlight ... the guys clearly enjoyed playing a small venue like that (after all the stadiums with AC/DC) and both Cormac and his guitar player jumped right off the stage during one song and kept on playing in the middle of the audience (nice enough that they did that exactly where we stood smile ) – needless to say the crowd went nuts. It was not a big crowd (due to a very rainy Tuesday evening I think), but a good one, everyone was cheering, clapping and headbanging (very mixed audience btw: you could see everything from LedZep shirts to Kiss-fans) .....
All in all it was a great Rock-show and it would have been even better if the sound hadn´t been as horrible as it was – I tell you, Warren would have cried if he´d been there ... lol I don´t know if it was the soundman´s ort he venue´s fault, but from where we stood in the beginning we could hear the bass player and ONLY the bass player ... so we moved to the other side of the stage where the sound was better (at least you heard the guitar now...), but I hope this will be different next time I see them. And there WILL be a next time, that´s for sure. You´re in for a treat everyone who´s going to Dingwalls!

Nice Review Eva. Good to hear they are still coming in to the crowd. They did this when I saw them in Hamburg although I thought they were just after our Irish Whisky! I can't wait 'til they headline here again properly.

I must compliment there distributors (SPV) here in Germany too. I offered to display a poster for the band to promote the album at my climbing park here in the Heide. That was Friday. Didn't get an answer (excuse the pun) but today a box arrives with a whole heap of goodies! Thats service. I'll have to get on to Joe's label too, or maybe he would just prefer to go climbing in the trees on his day off after the Fabrik gig. Klettern und BBQ. Might be cool cool

Re: The Answer - Live at Dingwalls

Mike - as for Joe support: Are you a member of the Street Team yet? We usually get as many posters and stuff as we ask for and are able to put up.

I´m in for Klettern and BBQ! big_smile

Thanks for the review Eva, sounds like you had a great night. I've been listening to their two cds today at work and really enjoying what they do. I must try and catch a live show soon.

Michael, as I mentioned today to Eva, when I saw them open here for AC/DC I don't think too many people had even heard of them. They got a decent response, but most of the crowd weren't in their seats yet and many who were weren't paying much attention. I hope to catch them on their own hopefully in a smaller venue with better sound than the Oakland/Oracle Arena. Enjoy my brotha'!!!!!!

Re: The Answer - Live at Dingwalls

I am glad this excellent band is starting to get some national exposure from their tour opening for AC/DC. I love "Rise" and just got their new album yesterday. Good stuff
