Topic: string question

Got my glossy JBLP today. What strings does Gibson put on these? Brand? I know they're 11's. The guitar plays awesome and bends so easy.

I think they are Ernie Ball slinky .11's... he thanks ernie ball in TBOJH, so I'm assuming here. Top-wrapping make em bend easier too. Have you registered your JBLP in the gear threads?

Congrats on the new JB Les Paul man what a sweet axe!  I know Joe has used Dean Markley 0.11s for a while but I think he uses Ernie Ball Super Slinky 0.11s now.  Does anyone else think this has anything to do with him using an EB Petrucci occasionally?

I think Super Slinky, I could be wrong as I often am.  I really like the way Slinkys sound but my fingers kill them too quickly.  I have been a long time D'Addario fan because of the quality and consistancy.  Besides you can get like 10 packs of them for like 40 bucks.

its not the usual 11-48 i think he uses 11-52.
Im sure theres an interview on youtube if you type in Joe Bonamassa strings, does talk about them then mocks people that use heavy strings to prove they're manly haha.
I dont know which ernie ball set this is though.

If I remember right.

Super Slinky are .09-.42
Hybrid Slinky is .09-.48
Regular Slinkys are .10-.48
Power Slinkys are .11-.48
Beefy Slinkys are .11-.54

I started using Super Slinky's in 1994, then moved to hybrid Slinkys when Kiss got back together in '96, and have been using Regulars since KWS' Live On CD in 1999. I've always used Ernie's and have always loved them. I had a brief stint with DR strings, but even though I liked them, I always find myself going back to Ernies.

Also I must say the Hyrbid slinky was the most fun to play... so easy to bend the strings! and still having beefy low end. I just was not comfortable with hybrid strings because I think 10's are just easier to find. I now run 10's on everything except for one of my strats where I run .11's - and you can tell a difference especially when bending and you picking attack.

I think they put Power Slinkys on from the factory.  I know the High E is an 11 and the low E feels closer to a 48 than a 54
