Re: Sell me on the Jub

Speaking of Jub's...does anyone know if the 2553 mini stack is a tube head or a solid state?

2008 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Goldtop (with the cream plastic from the 58RI)

Re: Sell me on the Jub

Its a tube its the same as the 2550 just in a smaller box. I have one in black from 1988.

That must be quite rare as I thought they only made small head in silver jube format cool

do you have matching 2x12 for it ?

I got an answer from the owner and he said all the mini's are solid states...seeing how it is on ebay and I can't take a look at it or hear it, i think i will have to pass cuz I certainly don't want to but it and have it be a solid state...

Yes, they come with 2 2x12 matching cabs....

Re: Sell me on the Jub

The Mini Jubs are solid state but the 2553 isn't a mini its the same head as a 2550 just in a smaller box, bigger than a mini and its freakin heavy! The only 2553 I have seen in black is mine and I get offers to sell it all the time.

I have a JCM800 Marshall 1936 212 cab for the 2553 but I am selling it, I played one of the CX2061 212 Cabs with my head and it just killed everything. So I am hopping to sell enough gear to buy a used one.

Re: Sell me on the Jub

SAHHWEEEET.  I'm REALLY in this time, unless UPS destroys it.  I got the the 2554 with a G12H30 (made in England) for $950.  Should get it next week.  An amp I can carry by myself, still gonna use the three half stacks for my band live though.  Just a great portable jam amp...yeah for me  big_smile

Where the hell does one get a black-backed gold top anyway?

Re: Sell me on the Jub

Hmmm...30watt speaker in a 25/50 watt amp...good choice or no?

Re: Sell me on the Jub

If its the a 112 no but if its a 212 you should be ok I am guessing.

Re: Sell me on the Jub

i'll keep it on the 25 setting til I figure it out...I have a few speakers laying around I can swap if I got to...want to pop the EV in there....

I've got an 8ohm, 12L classic, almost new(just used for a tonequest review, then sold to me), that I've been too lazy to put on Ebay. If you're interested shoot me an email and I'll give you some more info. $145 (they're 199 new).

Re: Sell me on the Jub

I have vintage 30's in my 1936 cab but the new cab I want has G12H30 and playing my 2553 through that was like an outer body experance, the tone was amazing I had 4 different people in Guitar Center tell me how great the tone was and asked what I was playing. Two of them worked there. Now if someone would just by my 1936 cab I could go get the thing! It sucks have G.A.S and no money!

I'll give it some thought....I have always been told that 16 ohms sounds better because of the tranny load

Don't you mistake it with the wiring?
I read if you wire two 8 Ohm speaker in series then the resistance is 16 Ohm.
This should be better for the tranny load. If you wire them parallel then it's 4 Ohm.

Latter is the case in my cab. I have two EV12Ls there. Each 8 Ohm.
But its a stereo cab. In case I can use one cab only,
then I can connect two amps on it in each speaker input.

It's the 1x12 model so the 16 ohm would be better...I could always run it with one of my 4x12s (also 16 ohms) and set the head to 8 ohms, running the ev and the cab.  The celestion sounds good on the 50 watt setting, scary cuz I think I'm gonna blow it up.  lol  Best combo amp I have ever owned though, great straight in no frills tone.
