Well I'll second the birthday wish. One of my early guitar heroes. I heard "I can't Wait much Longer" off of his first album in a record store when I was about 14 and I was bewitched. He achieved a degree of 'rock stardom' if you will, during a time of massive competition in the genre. Filling arenas around Europe and the States. He had the respect of his peers, if not the critics, but who gives a toss about them.

I saw him many times in the '70s and yet strangely my abiding memory is always of driving around with "Bridge of Sighs" blasting out of the 8 Track player. Who the hell remembers them?

I saw him last year for the first time in many years here in Hanover. The chops are still there, although maybe he was a little too loud for the size of venue, but then his playing was always a big sound.

I shall spin a few of his toons tonight in celebration. Thanks for the tip!;)
