Topic: Did you ever buy an eBay Les Paul?

Here's a good article to double check authenticity of Gibson Les Pauls.

Re: Did you ever buy an eBay Les Paul?

Personally I don't think I'd buy a guitar from China, period.
We have enough good retailers here in and Canada and the US, that you can get pretty much any kind of guitar you want and will know it's what it's advertised to be.
The prices for a good used or new Gibson or Fender might be a little higher but there are no surprises that could turn up to bite you later on.

Re: Did you ever buy an eBay Les Paul?

At first I was going to post something about the headstock logo.
Notice that there are many Les Pauls look like they say Gibsun instead of Gibson.
Did Gibson ever do a headstock logo with an open "o"???? Will research

Those guitars could have been bought from China $200 and sold on eBay in the US $1775.

I dont think my '73 or '79 does. Will have to go home and check.

haha!  It'd be hilarious if they did have like a one-off run with 'open o's" - just for fun...

Re: Did you ever buy an eBay Les Paul?

I see as of this morning that JBLP #100 is for sale on ebay. Signed by Joe

I've bought a couple of Les Pauls off of ebay and I've been fortunate. One is the #24 JBLP I have, the other a nice 58 Historic that I really love! Tone to the bone! However, I would offer a word of caution as there are a plenty of phony "vintage" guitars for sale for time to time. Know what your buying. If it's "too good to be true" it probably is. I have also built a few strats from parts bought on ebay that turned out very nicely, in my opinion.

I did that too. Affordable body and neck from fleabay and the best hardware and pups from Callaham. Great guitar.
