Topic: Att: Sky Watchers!!! New Comet

There is a newly discovered comet, Lulin, that is passing close to Earth, now, for the first time. It's double tailed, which is very cool!!! Here's a link to info about viewing it. Yes, I'm a Space Case.   Cathy

Cathy,
In which direction should I be looking for the comet?  I didn't see the location in the link.  I live in the midwest if that helps. Thanks for the heads-up!

It says ESE, and for tonight, it would be just above Saturn a bit.
I'll dig out the binoculars for tonight...hope it's clear enough.
Thanks Cathy, I love this stuff.

Re: Att: Sky Watchers!!! New Comet

I read about this comet somewhere the other day, but probably would've forgotten, so thanks for the reminder, Cathy!  The night sky has been so clear here the past few nights too... hoping for more of that.  Only thing is, to view this comet, I'll be looking kinda toward Harrisburg and the light pollution is probably gonna ruin it for me, especially so early in the evening.  I also don't have a telescope, just some mediocre binoculars.  But a green comet with two tails sounds pretty cool, so I'm gonna try.

I've actually been meaning to bump our "howl at the moon" thread (now I don't have to bother finding it, yay) just to comment on how brilliant Venus has been lately... who here has noticed this?  I've commented to different friends and family the past couple weeks and NONE of them had noticed... I can't understand it, as I can HELP but notice these things. roll

I'm always lookin UP, I guess... tongue

Sorry to disappoint Cathy, but that was not a newly discovered comet. Since it's been in dry dock for so long, co-Pilot Michael Lynch and I decided to take the "Starship Bonamassa" out on a bit of a nostalgic drive the past couple of nights. It was really fun sipping on some "Sloe Gin" all the while listening to "LFNIP" and "TBOJH". I do believe tears welled up in not only Michael's eyes, but mine too!

Ah yes, those were the days...... wink
