Topic: Black Stone Cherry

I've really been enjoying this band's self-titled debut album, which has been discussed on this forum before. Good stuff for sure.

They have released their sophmore offering. You can listen to it in it's entirety here: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/folklo … erstition/

I don't know if they had a new producer and/or engineer on this record. Their sound may have lost a little bit of it's edge. The music sounds rather compressed, but hopefully that's just the limitations of the streaming audio over the internet. It's still catchy, up-tempo, melodic and rockin. A sort of hybrid 38 Special with a MONSTER drummer.

Edited to add: I guess the entire album isn't there after all, but several songs are

Re: Black Stone Cherry

This has been out for several months.  'Blind Man' was/still is a rock radio staple.  Great tune.  'Things My Father Said' is one of my favorite tracks though.

Oh well, sometimes I'm a little late coming to the party. Don't listen to rock radio as much as I used to. Mostly talk radio or my iPod. Thanks, glad to hear they're getting airplay!

Ironic. I was just listening to some of their stuff while driving home. Great minds...... big_smile

I'm still partial to their debut, but the followup is really good, as well. Things My Father Said is also one of my favorites from the new album

Love these guys. I'm not really into heavier music, but these guys are just phenomenal. Great stuff. I need to pick up their latest though. I've heard a couple of songs on the radio, and I like what I'm hearing.

Re: Black Stone Cherry

it does have a few filler songs but the bulk of it is very good.  I've especially been jammin out to Ghost of Floyd Collins.  Very cool tune.

Thanks for the reminder, I love their first album and have been meaning to pick up the new one. Off to Amazon!

Re: Black Stone Cherry

Just saw Black Stone Cherry as an opener this past weekend.  Discovered them on Pandora a couple of months ago and loving their first 2 albums.

New album comes out May 31.

Met the guys, and they're super nice.  Influenced by everything ("...from Sam Cooke to Lamb of God.")

Check them out for a good hard sound.  Sounds like 70's and 90's and just full of energy

A very good live show, so check them out if you can.  They're opening for Alter Bridge now (who I thought was just ok).
