Topic: line 6 dl4...

Been thinking about getting one of these. I was searching around on youtube and found some demos but nobody had the string swell sound like on the intro to Pain and Sorrow. I really want that sound. Do you have to run it through anything else to get that or is it possible without any sort of effects loop?

Or was it even the dl4 on Pain and Sorrow??

Check out the musiciansfriend.com sound clips, I believe they have a very good example of the Pain And Sorrow swell effect.  I'm almost 100% sure that the DL-4 does the effect by itself but on the Signature Sounds DVD Joe uses his volume control on his strat to vary the sound slightly.  I'm sure a volume pedal with a healthy does of echo/reverb would get you in the ballpark.  Don't forget the pinky either!

Thank you! Sounds good.... I do remember Joe on that video saying it was a very delicate setting and a little to the right or left on the feedback and you loose the effect. Thanks again.
