Topic: saw Joe in Birmingham
Hi everyone.
I finally managed to see Joe live for the first time on Saturday in Birmingham. It was a stunning performance and I feel very, very lucky as I understand he's now too ill to play at the next gigs. I was going to see him at the Cornbury festival in the summer but I couldn't manage it in the end so Saturday was my big moment and he certainly didn't disappoint.
I popped up here looking to see if anyone had any news on when/where the tickets would be on sale for the Albert Hall concert on 4th May next year. They were giving out flyers to the queue on Saturday. I've now read the posts and will add one of my own as I've found out a bit more info.
I only came across Joe about a year ago. It was one of those happy finds that happen from time to time. I'd been transferring my old vinyl collection to mp3 and needed some album cover thumbnails for the Media Player library (couldn't be bothered to scan the sleeves). Anyway, I was on Amazon looking for the John Mayall/Eric Clapton Bluesbreakers album and some of Joe's albums came up in the “customers who bought this item also bought...” section.
Since then I've bought You And Me, Had To Cry Today and Sloe Gin on CD and Live At Rockpalast on DVD. I'll be dropping some strong Christmas hints for more of Joe's CDs and especially Live From Nowhere In Particular now that I've seen him live myself.
You'll have gathered I'm an old blues and rock fan especially if I tell you that my Bluesbreakers album was mono!
Glad to have come across this forum.
cheers, David
