I read a review in the Chicago Tribune about the title track, basically saying the track and the cd lack the songwriting of the original GNR.Said the guitar playing was good,Axle sing in lower vox,not the high pitched vox of his younger days.
Havent heard the cd but it sounds like if you spent as long as he did making it you could easily spoil it by over tinkering with it over so many years.I bet alot of the greatest music kinda comes in the spur of the moment.

Slash is no longer part of the band? I thought that guitar sounded ^^%%^ on that track.

Dude...Slash left in early 95.  Had enough on Axl's crap.

I think the song Chinese Democracy sucks.  Madagascar is pretty cool though.  Only two songs I've heard from this though.  Either way, it is NOT G'N'R.  It's an Axl Rose solo album.

Now if Buckethead was still in the fold...that might have been interesting.

Was it worth over 14 years and over $13 million to produce? You decide.

No Axl is the sole remaining original member, but it does feature a cast of thousands...well, not really, but I stopped counting at 39.

Re: Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy

marketing this trash as guns n roses is insulting to the band and the fans.  i loved the band, but stopped anticipating this album last decade

Listened to "Better" and it's not...the guitar sounds like it goes right to the board with an MXR distortion+ in between.

They haven't put out anything worthwhile since Appetite for Destruction, which I think is one of the best rock albums ever recorded.

They lost their mojo when Axl started walking around onstage with a goblet.

i liked the illusion albums better than appetite, lies was good as well.  the the slash's snakepit first album was actually in my opinion better than anything guns n roses ever did but almost no one heard it.  in any case this band is axl rose solo.

It's Five O' Clock Somewhere is one of my favorite CD's.  Everything on that was badass man.  Slash has said he wrote that as GN'R material but Axl turned it down.

Talk about a bone headed move!

Re: Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy

glad to hear someone else digs the album the way i do.  In my opinion it is one of the most underappreciated rock albums ever.  like i said i think it is better than anything gnr ever did.

Re: Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy

I guess I'll be in the minority here and say it's actually a good album. Not a masterpiece, but neither is it pure shite. Was it worth $13 million and 14 years plus to complete? I don't think so, but apparently the record companies who funded it did or they would've pulled the plug a lot sooner than they did. Axl's voice still annoys me at times like it always did, but it's pretty listenable, and there's no more filler than on the 'Use Your Illusion' albums.

I do agree though that the first Snakepit album kicks.
