Topic: Another rising "young gun", 16 year old Levi Platero

In the few short years since its inception, The Plateros have worked hard at breaking the mold of Native American blues music, cooking up a unique hybrid of blues, rock, and funk.

Levi Platero, a 16-year old from the Eastern Agency of the Navajo Nation, joined The Plateros in 1999, a complement to his family members who were known as musicians within the Tohajiilee Indian Reservation near Albuquerque.  Since joining the group he has taken control of the stage, when the young Mr. Platero plays guitar he takes you to his world of blues; his style is original, personal, and instantly recognizable.

After spending much of the last two years recording and touring the US and parts of Canada, The Plateros have earned a reputation as one of the most dynamic and exciting groups on the map.  Always willing to go the extra mile, The Plateros capture the hearts of the young and old.

They should connect with the Mato and crew from Indigenous. It could be a good way to unite and promote native american blues influenced bands, just as Los Lonely Boys have done with bands like Ozomatli and Los Lobos to promote hispanic-american bands and music. There's a few native american blues bands out there that just rip.

Re: Another rising "young gun", 16 year old Levi Platero

We've been watching this guy for awhile now. He found me on Myspace not too long after I made a page there to help promote bands. Right now it does appear that they mainly perform at reservations and Native events. Hopefully that will expand. It would be very cool to see a "Brotherhood Tour" using some more combinations of bands. There have been some good combos, unfortunately none coming to Georgia.

There are definitely some kick-ass blues bands that cross all ethnic boundaries. We just gotta watch for them and go support them when given the chance.

Just helping to spread the word about going to see GOOD bands and GOOD live music as often as possible!!!
