I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: Hi all

Hi Libby.I live about 450k*s from our state capital in South Australia. A very provincial mining town, with a small population of about 30,000.The truth be it known,we came across Joe by accident. I was on Limewire one day and came across his version of "had to cry today" and putting it mildly I was gob smacked.Since then I have imported several cd*s and his live dvd at the Rockpalast.Being an old school blues fan i grew up listening to Rory Gallagher, srv,John mayall,Peter Green, etc etc. Can*t wait for his new album to arrive,or (hint hint) jb to visit Australia

Re: Hi all

Re: Hi all

Thank you Andre and Libby, yes you shall definately hear from me on a regular basis.Ahh to see JB live. The best I*ve seen lately is Clapton,Dereck Trucks,Doyle Bramhall, and John Mayall in Aelaide, last year.

Re: Hi all

Thanks Pete, yes it is something to wish for.Looks like DVD*S and C.D*s shall have to keep me going until maybe one day nirvana;;;;; But i might have to check out my thresholds of pain,AC-DC ARE RUMORED TO BE COMING next month.Nothing advertised as yet so not too sure if they*re coming to our state or not. Thanks again too all ,feel very warm and fuzzy under the wings. Re: Hi all

Welcome to the forum. I remember the first time I heard Joe. It was on the radio, Paul jones was playing You Upset Me Baby, when it had finished I immediately went to the computer and looked up this guy called Joe Bonamassa. Been hooked ever since. I really hope you get the chance to see him live before too long.
Been thinking about catching AC/DC myself. Great band.

Re: Hi all

Hi Tripsey and others, yes JB does have that kind of effect on you.I thought I knew a bit about music (deluded old fart) how wrong have I been, having only come across this awesome talent in only the past nine month*s.I*ll show my age here (l.o.l) and liken it to hearing Eric Clapton for the first time as a 19 year old ?  in Cream."GOBSMACKED"

I know Australia is not at the end of the world, just seems like it sometimes to have not heard of him before.i*ll just have to make up on lost listening time, bugger i think i could handle that.

cheers to all Demo

Re: Hi all

Welcome demo,

It's really spooky but many Joe fans  turn out to be old Cream /Mac / Gallagher fans and yet lots of folks don't really get the connection. I was about 13 when I last saw Fleetwood Mac (Another coffin-dodger,check out the Mac article on my website - if interested.)

Is there a blues/rock following down - under ?

No Ordinary Joe

Re: Hi all

Welcome demo!
It sounds like you've been bit by the Joe bug too.
You'll hear many stories here with people wondering "why have I never heard of this guy before"?
I was one of them and, although Joe's legion is growing, I still wonder why he's not a household name.

Re: Hi all

Hi Bill and my fellow coffin dodger.Yes it makes you wonder how an artist like Joe as far as Australia is concerned anyway can be so unheard of.Yes we have had a strong rock and blues following here for a very long time.It is unjust( in my humble opinion )I suppose record companies only want

commercial success for their artists, and the deal like JB get overlooked. It just means diehards like us hang in there and keep buying his albums.I suppose there is hope, at least he is getting some air time lately on some FM COMMUNITY radio stations here.Is JB is high profile in the U.S and EUROPE or is it only us that are ignorant of JB.

In spite of his talent Joe is still something of an underground phenom in the states. He does get some airplay, but the commercial radio market in the states is a monopoly (Clear Channel Communications - there's a thread floating around here somewhere about that). For those of us in the know, we try to pack 'em in at his live shows and just from what I've seen in the last couple of years that I've been on board, the crowds are getting larger.

Damned shame that he doesn't get the recognition that he deserves.  He should have at least half a dozen Grammys in his trophy case by now...

I'm sure that once he does hit the big time in the US, he will catch on in Oz too.  Once he's assured of selling out some good sized venues he just might do an antipodean tour.

Major Tom to ground control...
