Hey Daniele...

I would think that a couple coats of poly-urethane would protect it, but I'm not sure if that would smear the ink from the Sharpie or not.....

I think I'd write something on a hard piece of plastic with a Sharpie first, then test the urethane after the ink dries.

You could probably get a better answer in the Guitars and Gear section.....

If you plan to use your JBLP I would get another pickguard and keep the one with Joes signature in a plastic bag stored in a safe place. Then if you just want to display the guitar you can put the signed pickguard back on.

If you do plan to spray it to seal it, please try it on another guard/sharpie first.

That's my two cents. Anyway you choose, enjoy your JBLP. I love mine!

I didn't mean you posted it in the wrong section, Daniele.....I just know that there are a quite a few more knowledgable people than me that hang in the Gear section, predominantly.....and they'd know more about it than I do.  But I see Spider popped in, and he'd know!

btw, don't worry about yer English.....you oughta hear my Italian!!!

I was married to an Italian for 20 years.....all I know are swear words!!!

But I do know enough to say "bella donna" to a beautiful woman.....how's that??

OK, back on topic.....if you want to move the thread over to the Gear section, you could email Phil or Jim and ask them to move it for you, or, just post it again over there.....
