Topic: wow...sad....Jeff Healey

I haven't posted in awhile because of school but I saw something today that just killed me.

I watched a video on Youtube of a music news show two days after Jeff died. The story of Jeff's tragic death was third behind the ***%# cat dolls and Madonna purchasing a random building. No tribute... nothing but ," Oh... and Blues guitarist Jeff Healey died on Sunday..." I'm sorry but to me this was just sad.

Sad, indeed Eric.  On the other hand, it gives me great hope that one particularly wise and talented young man has HIS priorities so straight that HE KNOWS and UNDERSTANDS how wrong and how sad it is.  YOU make me PROUD.  I'm very glad that you choose to hang out here with us.

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: wow...sad....Jeff Healey

it is a great shame that he did not get more recognition on the music channel you mention. I think here in the UK even on general news items, they mentioned his death, his condition and a little about his career, ie Roadhouse. Not really sure that the phrase
"just killed me" was the best one you could have used given the contect, but I fully understand and agree with your sentiment 100%.

Hi Eric. I think alot has to do with the fact that he fought a LONG battle with cancer versus dying from an overdose. Sad, but true. Don't worry though. The people that matter will always hold him in high regard and admire his tenacity. His final gift to fans, "Mess of Blues", will speak for him!  Keep the faith, Cathy

Re: wow...sad....Jeff Healey

But at the end of the day it IS 'kin" awesome, no doubt about it. Even Marcus Miller and David Sanborn, guys who have worked with all the greats, were wowed by young Jeff on that occasion!!!!
