Topic: Yahoo Music's Top 25 Blues Rock Bands

http://new.music.yahoo.com/blogs/listof … rock-bands

Not a bad list overall as these sort of lists go, but there are some which will, like any list, cause some controversy.

What a YAHOO! I know it's just an opinion, but it's all over the place and void of J.B.  Thus I declare it moot. For added touch I give it a salvo of "Rockets"..bah- bah -bah- bah -bah..NA-MASSA!!!                                           Cathy

Re: Yahoo Music's Top 25 Blues Rock Bands

that list was @#$%^^&# terrible.  sorry for the profanity, but wow.  the thing i hate about this list is not the disagreement, you see that with any list.  it is just very obvious to me that whoever made the list doesnt listen to blues rock, or at least hasn't since the seventies when it fell out of the mainstream.

There's a few more Brits you could have added too. Michael, have you heard the likes of Matt Schofield, Ian Siegal, Aynsley Lister, Jon Amor, Scott McKeon, Danny Bryant, Oli Brown, Ian Parker, Sean Webster and Back Door Slam.

Probably not all would fit into the top 25 blues bands I grant you, but some are certainly as worthy as some of the modern American artists listed. Also other than the Slammers there's a good chance these other acts may be playing somewhere in a place near you.

Joe filed under Dance Pop (amazon.de)......White Stripes as top Bluesrock act, Joe not mentioned (Yahoo).....Next weak another ignorant smarty tells us that Frank Sinatra was king of Rock´n´Roll.

Re: Yahoo Music's Top 25 Blues Rock Bands

There were a lot of good artists on there, HECK JOHNNY WINTER WAS EVEN MENTIONED. Look, point is, Joe is just not popular enough yet. He's making strides, but he just isn't popular enough yet. However, I believe one day he will be.

I like your list much better than yahoo Michael, but I'd have to fit Buddy Guy, Robert Cray and Walter Trout in there somewhere.

Major Tom to ground control...

Re: Yahoo Music's Top 25 Blues Rock Bands

Come to think of it Buddy Guy Has to be in my top 25 ..... DEFINITELY
Sorry about Peter Green Jus' Outside as well as Walter &  Robert Cray
Try it it's Diffucult , you're gonna leave out some legends if you're not careful
Everyone does , but we all have different tastes and that's a good thing

Gary Moore himself would never put himself about Peter Green

I agree with Deezer here, there are alot of newer bands I like and would say I like better than some of the 70's bands on the list. But nobody[mainstream]knows them well enough or even heard them ,so a yahoo[mainstream]will deal with major acts for the most part.Joe is not yet a hosehold name.I said yet.

Re: Yahoo Music's Top 25 Blues Rock Bands

And there's nothing wrong with saying that. It's a fact. But if anybody here ever said they didn't think Joe had the potential, I'd Internet-punch them in the mouth.

Re: Yahoo Music's Top 25 Blues Rock Bands

If a poll like this is really going to be accurate it would I think it would be better to have three lists,

top 25 blues artists ie BB King, Muddy Waters etc

top blues rock artists ie Joe, Walter Trout etc

and top blues rock bands ie Led Zeppelin, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, the Black Keys etc.

Its impossible to compare BB King and AC/DC in the same poll. If the Yahoo guy had stuck to bands rather than putting in the likes of Rory Gallagher and Johnny Winter it would have been more valid, as they are artists not bands.
