Topic: champagne and reefer

So, most of us have seen it in the Stones movie, and recently some dude named Holt did a good version on this youtube video...but who else does a good version.

And while I enjoy talking about my friend, I am fascinated by this cover.

Re: champagne and reefer

govt mule and wes jeans both have good covers of it.  govt mule do it live now and then and wes jeans has rockin version of it on forest of the pine.  i don't know what movie you are talking about but i have heard the muddy waters version too.

You know, I never give Govt Mule enough credit.  Ever.  For whatever reason.

It's hard to beat that version. It's a shame he went all singer songwriter on us.

while I was looking for that clip I found a recent video of Ian performing some of his old blues/rock tunes on electric guitar...perhaps he's returning to his earlier blues/rock roots?

Re: champagne and reefer

Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan did an excellent version on a good boot called 'It's Still Called The Blues' recorded in 1989 at Buddy Guy's Legends on Buddy's birthday on July 30. Not all "Champagne and Reefer" but over 25 minutes of killer blues guitar, which also incorporates Muddy's "She's 19 Years Old" and Buddy's own "I Smell A Rat".
