Topic: Hello hello

Hi all. Just popping in to introduce myself.

I discovered Joe at the beginning of 2007 through a fluke of hearing one of his songs on the radio. I have since tracked down most of his records and I've even managed to see him play live, albeit not at 100%, in Crewe in February. He rocked just as hard at that gig as Gary Moore did in his 2007 tour. Thanks for not cancelling! I took a few pictures at that gig so I might pop a couple up in the gallery when I've got a minute.

I must admit I'm not normally a fan of fan sites, but this is excellent. There is some good gear chat going on and it seems to be populated by intelligent people, not like the idiots that reside on youtube casting their "expert" opinion over everything they watch. Hurrah! Even the boss pops on occasionally, which is nice. He certainly seems to look after his fans.

I'm off to explore the rest of the forum. I might see you in there!

Re: Hello hello

Welcome fella, though I have to say that where I come from people don't shout about being ginger.

Just my sense of humor, think nothing of it. You've had a stroke of luck discovering this place, it's a goldmine of information and a most excellent forum. Enjoy!

Welcome to this fine forum Ginger. You're right, this is a nice place to hang out with a lot of really good folk. I can't believe the way some people carry on on the You Tube site, so rude and obnoxious at times.
Was it on the Paul Jones show that you first heard Joe and what song was it?

Have fun..Tripsy smile

Re: Hello hello

Welcome to Joe World, Gingerpaul. This is a wonderful site. I also recommend you take the time to read the "Sirius Joe news"..It's about the songs he plays on his show and some musings about music, etc..  It's an exciting time here with the new CD and the pending studio work. Have fun!!   Cathy

Where I come from the people who take the piss out of the gingers are only jealous. I'm glad to see that we get the same abuse in other european countries.  smile

I'm sure you'll have seen this before but it still makes me laugh clicky. Sums youtube comments up for me.

It wasn't Paul Jones' show that introduced me to him. I first heard him about a year before that. I did hear that show and have since managed to acquire it to listen again. The one thing the BBC is still first rate at is the quality of their recording on such events. Their recording of David Gilmour when he released his On An Island record was also excellent. I've always favoured live recordings over studio work because it gives a much better feel of how an artist works. The pros always do the business when they're on stage, and being able to recreate that at home is a real treat. The pretenders are the ones that play their album over the PA and mime. I like Joe's playing because each night is different and he is quite happy to just talk to the audience. I for one will certainly be going to see him next time he's in the UK.

Welcome GingerPaul!! My first live shot of Joe was at Crewe also, and I've been in here ever since. U from round these parts son?? cool

Not a forum kind of guy either, but it's a great place to be, and a veritable plethora of information about Joe, and others also.

Enjoy!!

Re: Hello hello

I've got family in both Stoke and Crewe so I know the area quite well. I ended up going with a mate from Whitchurch who is also a guitarist. We're always sending artists backwards and forwards over email and Joe was one of those. The lucky bugger got the last plectrum that Joe pinged off the stage. He had a go with it after I left and was raving about it so I had to find out what it was. Of course it was a Jazz III and now I've got my own little pile of them to play. Fantastic, although I've discovered that playing QOTSA wears them out quite fast!

I didn't really sign up here specifically because of Joe. It just happens that a lot of his fans seem to have similar tastes in music and gear to me. Joe's tone is excellent of course, and his R9s are beautiful. Not sure I fully understand the 4 amps mind you!

Re: Hello hello

Hi Paul

Welcome.

I've been to Stoke today on business. Small world innit.
I thought you might have got a ginger Les Paul at first wink Sounded really interesting.

It's a great forum and the only one I log on to.
Tried the guitarist one once (think it's now Music Radar) but I found it way, way too cliquey and sometimes downright abusive.

It's great that the boss drops in quite regularly.

Enjoy your stay.
Look forward to your posts.

Re: Hello hello

A warm welcome from me too Ginger, sorry forgot it!

Enjoy your stay here with the best guitarist, the best band, the best crew and the best fans!!
