Yes I am!
They are on my list for a live show soon as possible!
Andre Wittebroek
Bluser, I will be there tonight with a group of Mule/Bonamassa fans. Should be a great show.
I understand Warren Haynes wrote If Heartaches Were Nickels. Boy I would love to hear Mule play that one. They have over 400 songs they pull from to make up each set list. I have seen Warren/Gov't Mule about 15 times and each show is different.
I saw Gov't Mule in Chicago last month and they were great as usual.
Enjoy the show, they never disappoint.

keep wishing, he did write it but i don't think the band has ever played it in any format and am almost 100% sure they never played it live.
thats the good thing with mule, while some songs are played more than others, it isnt essentially the same show night after night. gotta love variety.
Well Masquerade Park is outside the masquerade club itself and no rain so that was a big plus.
Hot as usual in Atlanta yesterday. But actually the heat could have been much worse.
Things started off with Perpetual Groove. ZZZZ. Couldnt wait for these guys to get off the stage fast enough. Just a lot of loose jamming that didnt go nowhere. Only highlight for them was Eminence Front. Other then that? Forget it.
Mike Gordon from Phish was next. The guitarist with him was Scott Murawski from Max Creek. God. That band goes back to the days I was in college. I graduated Southern CT State College in 1982. So that gives you an idea of how old I am. They were a great improvement. Again another band that belongs to the jam band community as they stretch songs pass the 5 minute mark. But at least they had a little something so it made listening tolerable.
Then there was the Mule.
I have seen the Mule several times going back to the days of the late Allen Woody. And I have to honestly say this set of Mule music was the most laidback they ever did. Being that Jerry Garcia passed away 13 years ago yesterday, they did Patchwork Quilt and had Gordon and Murawski come out and jam on "Sugaree." It seems more then usual Warren was making some numbers reggae in approach which isnt bad. But I wouldnt want him to make a habit of it. When you get accustomed to the Mule delivering intense sets of music, you are not used to getting delivered this kind of curve ball. I dont know what other long time followers of the Mule felt about last night. That is always the unique thing of the Mule: Always a different setlist.
Other songs included were Rocking Horse, Hammer And Nail, Brighter Days, Soulshine and other numbers as well. There were a couple of other guests that sit in but I forget the names but it was good jamming.
Even on a laidback night, the Mule is still one of the best bands in the jam band community. There is no doodling. Just good classic rock that would have had a home in the seventies. From another time but still marching into the 21st century.
Long Live The Mule.
the reggae thing is (i think) because the latest album they did was mighty high which was reggae versions of other songs. when i saw them last november they opened with the reggae version of soulshine. that, unring the bell and i'm a ram are the only really reggae things they do. a few other reggae covers, but i noticed no reggae spin on other songs. cool you got to see them with mike gordon. good review. yeah pgroove are not for everybody. and by that i mean they are really not for anybody who is sober.
i'm checking out the whole setlist now. looks like they played dear prudence. ii'm so glad they started playing that one of my favorite beatles songs(though i havent heard them all not even close) love hearing warren sing it. and goin out west. man they just pick the most varied but awesome songs to cover. looks like a great set thanks for the review.
I was there too! We skipped Perpetual Groove altogether. Mike Gordon was fine, but I wouldn't be seeing them again unless they were opening or doing a joint show with someone else I wanted to see.
Believe it or not, it was at least 10 degrees cooler yesterday than it had been for the last 2 mos in ATL!! Thank goodness.
I've seen Mule several times, but not tons of times. So there were several songs that I got to hear for the first time. They do always do a Beatles song, sometimes two, and yes, Dear Prudence was a very unusual one to do. But that's why I like to go to their shows. You never know exactly what you're going to get!!!
It was a great show. Different than many I've seen. But I enjoyed it that way too!! I'm glad it was a packed house for them. They would normally have come to the Tabernacle but it was booked. Now THAT is the place to see them!!!
They do always do a Beatles song, sometimes two
not true. it is not unheard of for them to cover the beatles by any means it has happened hundreds of times but it hasn't happened more than it has, so i wouldnt really say always. good review though.
Sorry. What I should have said, and meant, was that every single time I've seen them they have done a Beatles song. Didn't mean to speak for the entire tour.
