Product Description
Mad Dogs & Okies is a one-of-a-kind, country, rock, and blues recording project that brings into sharp focus the distinctive talents of artists that are either from Oklahoma or have been major contributors to--or have been profoundly influenced by--Oklahoma music. The musical vision of Jamie Oldaker--one of the world's most respected drummers and producers--Mad Dogs & Okies is a consistently awe-inspiring recording that spotlights an incredible, all-star cast of country, rock, and blues greats (artists with whom Jamie has worked over the years): Eric Clapton, Vince Gill, Taj Mahal, Willis Alan Ramsey, Tony Joe White, Bonnie Bramlett, Peter Frampton, Ray Benson, JJ Cale, Willie Nelson, and others.

One person they left out that appears on the album is Joe Bonamassa. He is credited for slide guitar on the song Promises.

Just thought the people that collect everything Joe might be interested to know.

Re: Mad Dogs and Okies

I've got that on the list here, http://www.angelfire.com/blues2/bonamassa/other.html but didn't have any of the additional background info you provided. Thanks!

Someone (I think Jane maybe?) had indicated there was another recording out there that we didn't have on the list. Anyone have any info?

Re: Mad Dogs and Okies

Add:

Tom Townsley & Friends - BLUE ROLLER (2003)
Joe Lynn Turner - JLT (2003) Russian Import
Ozzy Osbourne - UNDER COVER (2005)

Should we count promos & sampler/compilations?
Got a BUNCH !

Re: Mad Dogs and Okies

Jeez, I forgot all about that one with Townsley, G. His Blues show is on every Sunday evening here. I've requested Joe and that's the only one he'll play cause he's (Tom) on it smile

Same subject, on a side note:  According to my interview with Bogie, he also performs on this CD.

Re: Mad Dogs and Okies

There is a current topic on the Clapton site about anniversary dates of releases in August and Mad Dogs and Okies was mentioned very favorably. I don't own it yet, but plan on getting it.  Any "Cajun Moon"or J.J. Cale fans of the Okie album (1974)? I haven't listened to it in a while and never repurchased it on CD.  The 2 posts about the 2 Okies had me rummaging thru my vinyl and I just put it on my turntable.

As far as Jim's comment about collecting everything Joe...some of the newer fans may not know that Joe did a recording of a Bloodline song "Good Luck You're Having" on a Les Paul recording.  For some reason that still mystifies me, it did not end up on the Les Paul and Friends CD.  You can purchase it on itunes under Les Paul...go down to G for Good Luck and give it a listen...it's very good, shame it didn't make the cut. (I'm going to post this over at the itunes thread also.)

Re: Mad Dogs and Okies

Hey Joe Fans, the Bloodline EP was available on Amazon. I just checked before posting and it's currently unavailable, but they say to check back. It cost $35, pretty steep, but worth it for the live version of Roadhouse Blues by The Doors. I showed it to Joe in Santa Cruz and he said believe or not that he's got the Bloodline stuff at home on vinyl. Keep your eyes peeled at the recycled and vinyl stores you never know!!!

I have always been a JJ Cale fan since his beginning, bought his vinyl like Okie, Naturally, Troubadour. Saw him live once in Auckland New Zealand in 1976. After he has never been in Holland as far as I know, if he comes I'll be there. On Cd I bought JJ Cale Classic, a best of,  JJ Cale LIVE 2001 very good and To Tulsa and Back from 2004 his latest CD.
Now there is a splendid Cd just out in Holland called COLLECTED . aCD box with all his favourite songs 60 Tracks. CD 3 has live songs JJ played for a radio show in Holland. I don't think   these songs are known in America.
Angela, if you want to buy JJ on CD that's the CD to have, I think.
It's form Universal Music. Look at www. universalmusic.nl. May be they can tell you where you can buy the CD in the States. Succes.
