Re: I gotta say....

Joe,

I can't thank you enough for everything you put into your shows. It *is* appreciated and I don't care what someone else perceives. You're my favorite artist of all time.

And if you come through Indy again I would love to host a food-fest BBQ for you and your whole crew between shows- my treat.  That road food sucks and I'll cook up some chow that will knock your socks off. It's a *real* offer and I can be e-mailed at fpetrarca@indy.rr.com.

Anyways, keep doing what you're doing. We love it. And PLEASE come back to Indy soon.

I've got to respectfully disagree with my friend Torqdog here. As much as Bill and I have, "Butted heads" at times over some of his writing, it's not entirely different than a sports fan complaining about his team.

Some of the most passionate and dedicated sports fans will boo their baseball team after the pitcher has walked the bases full and then gives up a game-ending grand slam home run. You'll hear fans tallking in the aisles after the game, asking each other why the manager left that pitcher in the game, why the GM traded away the team's best pitcher the week before, why he threw a fastball to a known fastball hitter, etc. Yet the same fan holds season tickets and proudly walks around in his team's jersey and ball cap. Is he less of a fan when his emotional investment and passion for the game and the team leads him to say something negative about them? Of course not.

Don't misunderstand me. The point of my analogy is not to say that Joe has, "walked the bases full" or played poorly. Although Bill wrote negative things at times and was confrontational as well, I do believe one can draw a parallel between Bill and a passionalte, emotional sports fan. Being the target of some of Bill's barbs, I feel qualified to comment.

Contrary to popular belief, Bill contributed a substantial ammount of positive writing about Joe and his music, and has done a lot of a lot of "Street Team" type of work behind the scenes to promote Joe that most are unaware of.

I don't mean to appear as a "Bill apologist" - and still disagree with a lot of what he has written. But to say that Bill never had anything good to say is inaccurate.

Wow...this sounds like a eulogy! I should know better than to get on here first thing in the morning...

Stu...re-read torqdog's comment, it is a little convoluted, but I think he said just the opposite.

You are correct! I thought T-Dog had written Bill never had anything good to say. I sent Randy an email to explain myself and was coming here to edit/ammend my post when I saw this. I knew I should stay away from here first thing in the morning! Oh well...

Re: I gotta say....

Hey Joe......... Isn't that some sort of song smile ??........ I've never even signed up for this "new' forum, but felt like I HAD to respond. Your post left me feeling bad for you. You gotta remember that you really CAN'T please everybody here! There's always someone that has to find a negative. Could be for inferiority reasons, or just plain spite. Sad in either case. Try and ignore those few people that have nothing better to do than critisize what you wear, or the one thing that you didn't do for them! There are so many of us that are SO appreciative of your talent and congeniality. I am always so honored that you take the time to socialize and reconnect personally after playing your heart out!! As for you new transportation....It's AWESOME! Of course, I miss seeing you in my "Friendly Skies"--but you can bet that, in your shoes, if I had the opportunity to choose my transportation, it wouldn't be sitting in an airport, hoping that my equipment would arrive OK.  Really looking forward to seeing you again soon, whenever, wherever that might be. How' bout Boulder Colorado? Or Portland? (Bill Masullo would be VERY happy.) smile Anyway--TAKE GOOD CARE....(no more sick days) and have a great time in Europe! See ya, Mary smile

Re: I gotta say....

Also as being a target of Bills,  I do not see him the way that you do Stu.  Their is one thing about being a passionate sports fan and criticizing a game and the player's performance.  But their is another thing of crossing the line and bashing people for bashing's sake.  He may have well done some good things but I like to look at the overall picture and some of the bad things outweigh the good someone does.  There is nothing like lifting someone up just to cut them down at the knees.   There is one thing about fair criticism and looking at facts and another for critizing just because your a hopeless blasphemer.
