Re: I gotta say....

Hi Joe, Look, you just get yourself over here to the UK, we know how to treat talented musicians over here! You are certainly one of those! I have all your albums and first listened to you on 'Bloodline'. I am looking forward to seeing you at the South Shields gig on the 4th of October, cant wait! Dont listen to the dickheads who critcise, I think jealousy plays a big part in their comments! See you in the UK! Take care of yourself! Billthescot.

Joe,

I also want to point out that Buddy Guy does not have a forum.

I beleive that you Joe are successful enough, and have built a professional enough originization it might be time to walk away and become the performer that you are.  The succcess is hard earned.  (Shoot man I was not even a fan right away).

I think you should re evaluate the methods with which you have contact with your fans.  The real fans would congregate somewhere anyway, and from time to time you can stop by and hit them with some knowledge.  But to take comments on your own website is really unfortunate.

Your talent is second to none man.  The shredding thing is not my thing, but I think your a cool dude, an amazing songwriter, and deserving of the things you have gotten.

Buddy Guy probably didn't have a website until recently. Apple to Oranges Dino. I guess he shouldn't have a myspace either. Buddy probably doesn't have one of those either. Message boards are a common practice. They just need moderated. This site haveing a message board keeps people coming back. The Forum has control capabilities that have been disabled. Obviously there needs to be some controls. When I logged on to the Black Crowes official Forum to give a less than glowing revue of the show I saw it took a couple of days for my initial post to be approved. I got my point across without flaming the Crows. Same could be said here. This Forums good far out weighs the bad. Do you let 1 out of 100 ruin it completley for the rest or do you just make it harder for him or her to have the privledge of posting.

Dino. Joe is taking the blues kicking and screming into the 21st Century. He is on the fringe and accustomed to the naysayers. He does have thick skin when it comes to purists and the Blues Nazi Faction. When a guy takes a cheap shot at his appearance or his personality that has nothing to do with the music that is where the line needs to be drawn.

now wait a minute....Joe is treated quite well here in Southern California.

Joe has a home here

enjoy the shows over there

Re: I gotta say....

Buddy Guy does have a site and a forum. www.buddyguys.com. He has had a site for many, many years and the forum is new, less then a year old.

Now maybe Joe needs to buy a Blues club, Buddy has one of Chicagos very best. LOL

Re: I gotta say....

I agree that this forum generates a positive return in support and should be retained. The positives far outweigh the negatives, provided a more proactive approach to moderation be taken. Moderating this particular forum can be a prickly issue however. If you scrub it too clean it becomes insipid - if you don't clean it enough, it becomes what it has been of late. It's a time-consuming task, and ultimately you'll never make everyone happy with what's left on the board and/or what's deleted.

I suggest more good has been done by some dumbass making a stupid remark about Joe's jeans and then watching all the people coming to Joe'd defense, than if the post had never been made.

Re: I gotta say....

Joe B,
Please don't let a few numb-skulls change your view on life. You work harder than anyone else I see in the business and don't you think for one moment we don't completely appreciate every note! The fact that you are such a nice guy to come out meet your fans and sign autographs just adds to your persona. You are an exceptional musician and a wonderful person. No one has the right to say anything different. This is your life and you have say so as to where you play and how long you play. We're just along for the ride. And what a ride it is! We all love you! Have a safe trip and stay safe over there!

I hope so. Joe took it pretty hard. Actually, I'd like to comment on the jeans remark. First of all, Jagger is anorexic and second, I'm sure some people think Joe looks good in tight jeans - present company excluded of course.

Re: I gotta say....

Joe,

Don't listen to them. Just enjoy what your doing. I sure do enjoy it!! I love you and your music soo much! Please don't feel that you have to quit. If you quit playing music, I would just be heartbroken. It would make me less confident and my dream would just blow out the window.  Just know that a bunch of these fans here and I love you soo much and would never want to put you down in any way possible. Please don't quit your profession. You are my hero, Joe. I would hate to see you give up something you love.  keep on keepin on.

Peace,
Sarah

P.S.- You look GREAT in your jeans. dont listen to those stupid people.

Re: I gotta say....

This is really the only forum I visit frequently- It's by far the best forum out there... I do agree, though, we need to get a few moderators to remove anything that puts down Joe in a very negitave tone etc.  constructive criticism is all right, but when you come on here and act like a complete a** you should be reported and both your posts and account should be taken away.  A new fan only has to see one little bad review of Joe, even if it is completely false, to make them turn away and not be a fan anymore.  The forum should stay up, but with a few changes- this is the main thing that keeps people comming to this site every day, and it is a very usefull marketing tool.

Re: I gotta say....

Joe, if it helps at all...

I've seen 2 of your shows over the last 6 months..... Blue Spings, MO & KC.  I loved your shows, met you, & really enjoyed myself.

You really inspire me to play guitar, & make me want to try that much harder to get up on stage & do my thing.

Thanks.... Boda

Re: I gotta say....

Okay.  I just think that Buddy or BB King (and please take note of who I am referancing in regards to Joe, so as to know how I think of him) do not read the forums.

I know for a fact that Buddy does not email.

Joe is a headliner.

I no more believe that Julia Roberts send me a friend request on myspace, than I think Robert Johnson did.

JOE IS A HEADLINER.   If I was Roy, I would have said to cut this sooner than anything else.

I also think Joe looks nice in jeans.  Did not know they were Diesel?  I dont have Diesel, I have heard they are quite nice.

But Joe is a headliner.  Thats it.

Re: I gotta say....

Thank You Joe!

Thank you for the great music!

Thank you for being a true professional!

........ keep rockin' Joe!

You are showing everyone how it should be done!

Not doubting your support of Joe Dino. Again though Buddy and BB are not of the same generation of Joe. Neither am I but I have more in common with him than I do with Buddy or BB. One is I e-mail and Joe does too.

One of the reasons the fans are so devoted to him is because he is accessable and posts on the Forum.
If you knew Joe better you would know he likes to keep in touch with his fans. After this most recent incident he might want to reconsider it. I don't think he will. Because he knows what got him where he is today and that is by being fan friendly. What we like about Joe is his candor, emotion and his willingness to be open to suggestions and critiques. He listened to his fans and started playing longer sets. He communicates with his fans at shows so why not here. While there may come a day that he will not be able to honor that routine after shows
I feel it important to stay in touch with them and this is an important tool.

Another thing you may not know is Joe decides what to cut and I hope he doesn't cut this. With a few controls implemented this Forum still can be used by his fans without fear that personal attacks will have to be seen by him.

I don't want to sound too smug but maybe Scott should consider losing his forum. I checked it out and the only posts in recent days are spam. One for sure should be deleted because it appears to be an adult site. In Scotts case the inactivity does not bode well if some one might be interested to see how widespread his fanbase might be. Really I'm not trying to hit below the belt. Just offering my opinion of some one you support. Much in the same way you are doing here.

Re: I gotta say....

I think the forum is a useful tool for Joe and his fans to gather around, and let's face it, until Joe gets so famous he's in the mainstream of cultural awareness (i.e. radio, or a reputation that precedes him like Buddy Guy and BB have built over the years) this is his most effective marketing tool besides touring to get the word out and allow fans to get together and form a community.  All it needs is for a couple of referees to be able to throw a flag for unnecessary roughness and personal attacks and it's fine.  Aside from a few jerks this is the best site on the internet as far as I'm concerned.

My other thought is that if you close down this official forum, then you have no control or influence over what goes on elsewhere in your name.  That idea would make me very queasy.  Reminds me of the tale I heard once about why so many presidents kept J. Edgar Hoover as the head of the FBI: because they'd rather have him inside the tent urinating outward than the other way around.

Re: I gotta say....

Joe,

Please don’t be frustrated or disgusted. Your FANS know the truth! I do not claim to personally know you, but I know what I see at your shows and through your music. That is all I need to know. No explanation required. Anyone can see that you are dedicated to your music and inspiring others through your work with the Blues Foundation. Your FANS love you for a number of reasons: your tireless effort, your desire to put on the best show, your dedication in performing even when you are sick and the dedication you have to the younger generation in helping them to understand what the blues is all about.
It seems that the past 8 weeks of touring this summer has been exhausting for you. As I have been lurking about the message boards the past four months or so, posting occasionally, there have only been three or four people that I have seen, rattling the boards. Please don’t let these three or four people determine your future. You have too many people who love you, and your music. Being a perfectionist myself, I know that if we receive even one negative comment - we take it personally. It is this perfectionist quality about you that has in turn given you such devoted fans. Your fans know that you will be on stage, playing your heart out, through heat and illness, just for us. Your desire to put on the best show possible has created a reputation that other musicians should be so lucky to have.

Unfortunately you are in the public eye, which opens you up to criticism, warranted or not. Although weird people make the world a bit more interesting, pay no attention to those who are concerned about the jeans you wear. You wear pants, and I think that is all anyone cares about. I have a personal photo I took of bluesman Rufus Thomas sporting a waist length green polyester cape over a gold studded, button down green polyester blazer with green polyester shorts and knee high boots! Ok, so if you do show up in this outfit I will post and razz you about it! LOL (Green may not be your color! HA). What you wear (to a certain extent) is not important. I think the females here on the message board would agree, you look just fine! Wink wink~

It seems that from reading interviews and seeing you in concert that you do this (your music) because it is who you are, with or without an audience. Do your thing, and we will come. Above all else, be yourself and don’t apologize for who you are. Don’t ever compromise your values. It is evident that your parents did an exceptional job of instilling good morals, values, and compassion to help shape you into who you are today. That personal quality is reflected in your music.

You should never apologize for having a tour bus. Like you said, you worked hard and you earned it. If a fan does not like paying the cost of a ticket, they don’t have to go to the concert. You are entitled to a living. The cost of a ticket to see your show is cheap compared to many. You sacrifice a normal lifestyle to bring smiles and jaw dropping awe to fans everywhere who come to see you.

As you can tell by the number of fans posting replies to yours, we wish you well, mentally and physically. Hopefully the next six weeks in Europe will bring you fresh air and good health.  Maybe fans coming to concerts can bring some hand sanitizer and pass the bottle around, or have it at the meet and greet table so you don’t come in contact with so many germs!

Please look beyond the few idiots and the occasional fan who speaks before they think, in letting others know the truth. I think many would agree, the message boards are a wonderful place for fans and soon to be fans to hang out, share some stories and photos, and hear from you once in a while. We like the fact that you interact with the fans through the forum (message boards and fan photos posted on the site). Hopefully a few will not discourage you from coming back to the Midwest. We need some Joe in St. Louis, MO!

Oh, by the way, I contacted high up government officials, they agreed to put you on the endangered species list, and it is now a federal offense to hunt Joe Bonamassa! Seriously, your music is too important. Besides, I think that if you decided to quit a few fans would probably stalk you until you played again!

Be healthy and be safe. Enjoy Europe. Most of all, thanks for caring about your fans and reading the message boards!

Re: I gotta say....

Joe,

I've been a fan of your music for years. Always wait outside in those cold Wisconsin shows at Shank Hall to get a good seat. You've always put on a good show, even when you were under the weather. I don't care what the hell you wear and wouldn't ever take a cheap shot about that.  I appreciate that you play live so much and damn it, you deserve the tour bus.  You always give time for the fans, at least when I have met you. Autographs, photos...I think we should refrain on the handshakes for the sake of everyone's health!

Don't let cheap shots get to you.  There will always be that small group of people that need to vent and somehow think THIS is the board to do it at.
