Re: I gotta say....

Joe,
Well I was at Bald Hill Last night and I had a really good time. Show was great lots of fun.

Just remember the bigger you get the more people will notice you and that includes mindless twits and people that just need something to be a bigot about. Hell with the exception of porn that is what the internet was invented for big_smile ask Al Gore since he invented it lol.

Your album has been #1 for nine weeks in a row obviously that says something. You have plenty of fans that buy your albums and go to your shows supporting you. You are always going to have people that will judge you because you are doing things and going places that in even in their dreams they could not obtain and will judge you for it.

Chin up and FIDO is the word.

Re: I gotta say....

Well, I am not the type of person to sugar-coat. Yet, I don't want to reiterate what has been said, however, I will.

You have been nothing but generous and outgoing to your fans. Did I forget sincere?  As I bring up sincere, I am reminded of the day that you had to cancel a show to save your vocals for a festival you were headlining the following night...and how apologetic you were to me and Joanie for traveling so far to see you, and that you cancelled that nights show.  There was no need for your apology, truly.  Both, you and Roy told us how sick you were feeling that day.  Your health is more important than over doing it.

The fans days are numbered as to you coming out and shaking hands and autographing our loot.  Hopefully, not too soon!  And on a side note, look how many of your faithful fans have met each other (extended music family) because of your music!  Almost every person I call friend now is your doing.  THANKS!

Anyway, put up the blinders to the bad stuff that you hear and/or read.  There is a lot more good than bad.

Have a safe and healthy journey through Europe and see you in the fall.

Cheers,

Tara

Re: I gotta say....

Hang in there Joe......please don't let this crap get you down.  I know that is easier said then done.  You are too good a person and a musician to let this prevent you from reaching your goals, and you have worked way to hard to now let that happen. Thanks so much for all your great music and wonderful concerts.  I have thoroughly enjoyed it all.  Have a safe trip to the U.K. and hope this leg of your tour is successful and fun.  See you in November in Washington, D.C.  Take care.  Barbara

Re: I gotta say....

Joe,

Please stay the way you are and don't let anyone spoil your day or more.....as i read between the lines. In this profession it's impossible to please everyone the important thing is to please yourself and keep believing in what you do even when it's so mean what they say or write about you.
As i been with someone who couldn't gope with the negative publicity i beg you PLEASE.........stay with yourself and do the things you find most important 'cause it's your life!!!!! Succes never comes cheap and jealousy will always be on the corner.
Don't say your stop cause you can't it's in your blood and soul so please never say that again or you are predicting your own death [sorry to say so] your one with your guitar!!!!
And i and many others don't mind what you wear you stay Joe Bonamassa the one we love for his music and personality.

Re: I gotta say....

WoW!
powerful words daddio...
I never really understood why people want
to post on a bands Message Board with
harmful and personal words.
People love to hide behind the keyboard!!
Most people don't have the BALLS to say
it in person..
Same thing happens to me @ the restaurant..
People leave upset and then write a 2 page
letter AND let me "Have It".
MOST PEOPLE HATE CONFRONTATION!!!!!!!!

Re: I gotta say....

(Somehow I thought I had already posted on this thread, but it turns out I posted what I wanted to say here on the Turning Stone thread.  I must be losing it.  roll  LOL.)

Joe...I would just like to echo what everyone else on this thread has already said.  It's obvious you care about your fans by the fact that you post on this message board.  All I can say is that when I saw you live, you put on an AMAZING show, clearly putting so much effort into it, and then you were so gracious to all your fans afterwards.  Thank you for that.  I'll never let some jerks let me believe otherwise.  Keep on keepin on, and try not to let all this negativity affect you.  Good luck in Europe, and stay healthy!

Re: I gotta say....

kk...
hmmmm.... i am saddened that Joe Bonamassa has to take some of his precious (rare) free time, and respond to any negative comments from anyone. I havent seen the post that Joe is talking about, nor will I seek it out. Forum anonimity DOES make some gonads grow, but they are still bb balls if you ask me.

I was there at Mohican. Joe started the show off stage and set the tone for a wonderful display of guitar prowess, singing virtuosity, and supreme showmanship.  Within 3 minutes, Joe was dripping in sweat...even his guitars perspired!!! I am a veteran of about 40 shows, all kine venues, all kine crowds, and I can't see this
"attitude" naysayers allude to. Joe has done many a festival in his day, and he knows that when you headline a 5-6 band festival, there are going to be some alcohol ladden moments. I think Joe expects it, and even smiles at them. BUT... to attack his personal appearance, and garb is a clear display of ignorance and jealousy.

The show was GREAT. Joe does not miss a beat (neither did Bogie or Mark), and I couldn't believe that he just kept on pounding the hits out in all that humidity. Non stop jamming!! I think Joe makes a point to tweak every song a little for every different show, and I think he does a fine job. Many shows I think Joe paces himself like a prize-fighter...jab, jab, jab, combo, uppercut, then back to jabbing, and then a few knockdowns, and then the final knockout. NO rope-a-dope, but constant birage of frenzied, furious, fretting, fantastic fingers, mixed in with a soulful voice.

Listen... why is Joe any different from the rest of us? Just because HIS profession is one that lets others share in it's process, does that make him less worthy of natural human tendencies? When the average Joe (pardon the pun) finishes their job, do they have to go out and fend off coodies that deter their health, by shaking strangers' hands??  If you show up for work, and your workspace was trashed by earlier shift, are you not allowed to grumble a little?? Just because Joe is a superstar, it does not make him un-human. He is flesh and blood with the same nerves and feelings the rest of us have.

As for "ego"... ohmy goodness...NOBODY can be any kine performer and not have an ego. In the days of MY youth, my guitar heroes ALL had supreme egos. So much so, that if they perceived anyone in their genre that was getting TOO much praise and following, they would dis them, and try to pollute the air with negativity.  AND... there were many that you couldn't tell if they had egos or what, as those were the days of drug induced motivation to appear on stage and perform over, an over gain for crowds, after traveling miles, and miles...etc.

Joe is clean performer, who not only recognizes other talents, but, actually, promotes other talents in many different ways. Who heard of LD b4 Joe? Who here is on the road 300+ days out of the year, yet remembers to stop at grade schools to share with youth of America?? OK, then. If you are a blues fan, and you do NOT know that Joe is a mix of blues and rock, then you are not a blues fan.

ANYwayz... my lovely wife directed me to this post by Joe. IF whomever managed to get MY guitar hero upset enough to doubt his purpose in life wants to take ANYTHING up with me (or probably countless other fans who's necks are imflamed by such comments), I am ready, willing, and able to either spar with you verbally, or (my favorite) physically. I have dealt with your kine all my life, and i always win. So...tuck that little thing of yours between your legs, and run off to some woods and expire (if you can tear yourself away from licking yourself like the mangey dog you are).

whew, i feel  better!!

Good thing I dont read the forum unless the wahine says I need to, as I don't like being ready to kill something, and it not being hunting season, yet. But... like goundhgs, and coyote, I guess idiots are always in season.

Re: I gotta say....

Joe,
I haven't been on this message board for about a week, and the first post I saw was this one. To be honest, my heart sank. The last thing you should have to do when you visit this forum is to feel any need to defend yourself to your fans. I don't know what was said or who said it, but I have seen that type of post before and all I can say is this: Any personal attacks on you are not posted by your fans, but someone looking to "stir the pot" and see what floats to the top. Like you said, it's one thing to honest, respectful criticism of a song or performance. It's totally crossing the line when it becomes a personal attack.
I have always been of the opinion that this forum should only be censored in extreme cases. I am beginning to change my mind...honest, respectful criticism may be OK, but personal attacks should be deleted.
Hang in there Joe and try not to let the vocal minority outweigh the graet fans that frequent this forum.

Re: I gotta say....

I don’t know why but there is a lot of complaining around here.  Its one of the reason I stopped coming here, people need to grow and up and stopping complaining.  If I wanted to hear complaining Id talk to me wife

Joe keep on rockin

Re: I gotta say....

Hey Joe...

Ignore all the stupid posts (mine included) & just keep on doing what you've always been doing.  After 17(?) years of following you, I have yet to see any attitude or ego.  If you have been hiding it all this time, then you do it VERY well.  Whatever those posts said, I'm sure they were NEVER your fans anyways.  Some people just like to stir things up.  Anybody who has ever met you knows how down to earth you really are.

Re: I gotta say....

Joe,

I am sure there is a real sense of letting off steam.  I said it to you and Sara and Roy...I do not think that this is a good idea.  I think that a fan forum is fine, a street team forum is fine...but they need to be independant of you and your official website.  I say it again.

The street teamers go through some verification process, and in that process can be given a login and a password.  Then only they can be given access to a certain level of the workings of the team.

I also want to point out that Buddy Guy does not have a forum.

I beleive that you Joe are successful enough, and have built a professional enough originization it might be time to walk away and become the performer that you are.  The succcess is hard earned.  (Shoot man I was not even a fan right away).

I think you should re evaluate the methods with which you have contact with your fans.  The real fans would congregate somewhere anyway, and from time to time you can stop by and hit them with some knowledge.  But to take comments on your own website is really unfortunate.

Your talent is second to none man.  The shredding thing is not my thing, but I think your a cool dude, an amazing songwriter, and deserving of the things you have gotten.

I think its time for Stu or the Street Team boss to be tasked with starting a fans website.  This stuff weighs on a guys heart, and Joe is prone to being sick...he needs warm blankets, and to not read about some yahoo.

What about a Vitamin C campaign...instead of buying a t shirt, people line up bottles of vitamin c on stage each night for Joe.  Keep the man healthy.

Find some peace Joe.  I still think your the man.

(and I fought it really hard)

Re: I gotta say....

Then I think he should get rid of this.

Get a wordpress type blog that he updates each night, and makes comments available or not.  Road stories.  Get a flickr account.  Make it look cool.

And he should shut this down.

I think this was fine when Joe was a mid carder, but now he closes the show...and headliners dont do this.

Joe,
Please let us know how you're doing - or someone. We care.
