Topic: Foo Fighters!

Well I saw them at Manchester stadium last night and wow Grohl certainly does put a show on..
Opening up was the:
Future heads - didnt really enjoy them bit too well I just cudnt get into it..
Manic Street Preachers - part of the reason I paid £50 a ticket but honestly they was a let down I think they should of been a dif gig, wasnt loud enough there songs where sorta easy listening just seemed out of place with furture heads and foo's

then Foo's came on, I've seen them twice now and everytime he's put on a great show even though hes foul mouthed wink I took my friends and my sister with me but promised to stay with her away from crowds so we stood mid-way but tbh the view was good and Grohl had a walk way right into the middle where he'd come and play / talk / pose for us. My friends pushed right up to the front but they got covered in "stuff" that people throw if you get my meaning.. they did a good mix of old and new songs everlong was particularly good and one by one took me back a good number of years smile they had a Violinist (she was awesome), Pianist, a lead and rhythm guitarist and grohl on guitars as well, obviously a drummer and bassist like normal and a triangle player (who did a solo tongue)

Overall it was money well spent really enjoyed them....

Re: Foo Fighters!

Glad they put on a good show John, as if there was any doubt eh!?! Seeing them on Friday at Wembley, am getting quite excited now. I've read that they are going to be on a stage in the middle of the stadium with various walkways so that everyone will be within spitting distance (for lack of a better description).

Saw them last year, and they mixed the set up with some acoustic stuff off the "Skin and Bones" album etc.., and it really works. Just shows how they've progressed and grown as a group.

Supporting them at Wembley is Against Me (??) and Supergrass (very decent live band), and then 2-1/2 hours of rock. Let it be said, they are always great value IMHO. smile

Re: Foo Fighters!

The Foo's are the best band in mainstream music right now. No doubts.

Re: Foo Fighters!

I'm wondering if you guys know if Dave Grohl is a big Beatles fan?  Dave was a guest at Liverpool Sound 08 on June 1st with Paul McCartney.  Dave seemed very excited and sincere about playing guitar with Paul...he did a little bow thingy.  I haven't viewed the entire video, so I didn't see all of Dave's playing, but Dave comes on about 28 minutes in with a blue hollow body/cutaway guitar (whatever you call it) to play Band On The Run...very cool indeed...he's definitely energetic. smile

"Special guest Dave Grohl - of the Foo Fighters - joined on drums and vocals to take the show into rock 'n roll overdrive which, after an encore that memorably featured 'A Day in the Life' and Lennon's anthemic 'Give Peace a Chance', sadly but spectacularly ended with an amazing firework display."

The video will be up until June 8th for viewing.

Re: Foo Fighters!

He's also a huge fan of Zeppelin. He's basically gone on record that if Jason Bonham ever decided to not do it (snowball's change), and Zeppelin wanted to do a gig, he would definitely want to do it.

Cheers for the video link Angela. I had read about it, but didn't see it. Here's the guitar Dave probably used.

Now that would be a real treat.

Paul-that's the guitar, I have a sweet spot for blue guitars, my favorite color!  I have to tell you, I've gotten quite a Dave Grohl education in a few days!  smile

S'what we're here for ma'am

*tips guitar hat in acknowledgement, before riding off into the sunset towards the old London town, with blue DG-335 in hand.* smile

That's just one of the great things about this place, I've learnt so much about so many other artists, as well as Joe, from some of the guys in here, that would have probably slipped under my radar. My musical life is much richer for it!!
