Topic: Cloud 9 Gibson Les Paul '58

Guys,

couldn't wait for the Joe Bonamassa signature - but saw this in my local guitar shop here in the UK & it 'spoke' to me- I had to have it!

Anyone else have one of these Chambered reissues?  I had to sell my standard Les Paul due to the weight issues (over 10lbs!!!) and my slipped disc couldn't stand the stress over a 2hr+ gig & hey! I'm nearly 50 years old so I've a good excuse to get one of these (that's what I told the wife anyway! ;-)

Joe/guys- have you tried one of these?  I imagine a young fit guy like Joe wouldn't need one for the weight reduction - but the TONE!!! Somewhere between a 335 & a Les Paul Awesome IMHO....

Just had to share... Cheers!

This don't look like no express way to me...

Re: Cloud 9 Gibson Les Paul '58

I might keep you satisfied

Dude. I just wet my pants.

What did you expect to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House perhaps? The Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wild beasts sweeping majestically over the fields?

Re: Cloud 9 Gibson Les Paul '58

Yea I've played them before and they are sweet.  Like you said a mix between a 335 and les paul.  Beautiful guitar man.  Good luck with it.

Wow, beautiful. Now this isn't the Les Paul Forum but you're bound by Les Paul Law to post a couple pictures you take!

I don't really have a reason to get a Paul that's more chambered than the (finally, again) swiss cheese holes!

Beautiful.
I'd have that just to look at !!

Forgive my ignorance, but.. Whats a Cloud 9 Les Paul? *blushes*

A 'Cloud 9' Les Paul doesn't exist officially- essentially it's a Custom Shop Les Paul that's had a whole lot of mahogany removed from the body to create a much lighter & more resonant guitar (imho)  check out :

http://www.cloud9guitars.org/

and all will be revealed- ~Gibson aren't making anymore with figured tops- so if you can try one & afford one then I highly recommend it- your back will thank you & it's just as near as mere mortals like myself are going to get to owning an original '58 in terms of tone & weight...

I'm still in the honeymoon phase- can you tell! ;-)

Oh! Kinda like the new standards?

Re: Cloud 9 Gibson Les Paul '58

Kind of, they have more removed though. The standards are actually going back to the swiss cheese style of weight relief.
