Topic: Sante Fe Station in Las Vegas

Joe and boys put on a very nice show in Las Vegas last night. I do not have the set list, but they did change it up slighly with Just Got Paid being part of the regular set.

The sound was very good with the exception of the vocals being somewhat buried by the instruments when the boys were in full swing. The sound folks did strive to correct it and for the most part sound was exceptional.

The acoustic interlude was impressive. Joe is without a doubt one of the best guitarists I have ever had the pleasure of listening to and live he is even better.

My only observation to the contrary would be that based upon other reviews on this forum, perhaps the show was somewhat short in duration. The band started a little after eight and were done and off the stage shortly after nine-thirty. Joe appeared to be in good health and after hearing about so many two hour (or longer) shows, I was just a little disappointed.

Please don't flame me for that comment. It was just an observation. I know that continuous touring can take its' toll and I hope that Joe doesn't flame out from exhaustion. It can happen. I recently went to a Buddy Guy set at the House of Blues here and was very discouraged by what I saw and heard. He looked like he was just going through the motions and unlike Joe had no "real" interaction with the audience. As a side note: Eric Johnson opened for Buddy Guy and was unbelievable. My dream gig would be to have Joe and Eric Johnson on the same show.......

Anyway, I look forward to his return this fall (yes, I know he is at Boulder Station tonight, but I am unfortunately not able to attend).

Buddy Guy doesn't have to prove anything anymore. Though I do like him a lot.

My G3 would be Joe, Eric Johnson and Steve Morse.

Oh my, would that heaven, at least for me.
If you threw in Monte Montgomery, that's just too much show for me, too much talent on one stage.

Hi Jane,
Thanks for the kind words. Reaction to an opinion can be pretty expressive at times. I think the encore was "Asking Around for You".

Overall, a great show. I am looking forward to this fall as Joe is scheduled back in November and December at this time.

Of course, by then he will be playing to thousands of people at one of the "event" centers and it will cost $75 to see him. I think I am joking, but Joe certainly deserves more recognition.

I took my son with me to the show and he was blown away. He knew his old man was a closet bluesman, but he had never been to a good show before and Joe has another convert. He is trying to get some of his friends to go in November, but it is an uphill battle to get fans of Slayer to go to a blues/rock show no matter how good the artist is. LOL

Much better than last time...meaning the lighting and sound.

The show was awesome as always!
