Topic: Advice on Tele replacement necks

I'm looking to maybe replace the neck on my mexican thinline tele. I'm not crazy about the small frets, and would like to know anyone's experience with replacement tele necks. I'm looking not to sink too much money into this (maybe around $100). Looking at Mighty Might.

Anyone have experience's or advice they would like to share?

Thanks,
Ken

check out torresengineering.com
or warmoth

I have a mighty mite strat neck and a SAGA strat neck and they're both alright...

You may be able to get a used MIM or MIJ tele neck on ebay for around $100 even with tuners

Maybe just get the neck refretted.  My guitar guy charges a little more than 100 ( I think!! ).  Just a thought.

One word....Warmoth.

never give up, never slow down
never grow old, never ever die young

Re: Advice on Tele replacement necks

Been looking at Warmoth today, as well as talking to my local tech about new frets.

Local (very good) tech said:
New frets could be $200 if not too much laquer on neck around frets or $300 if too much laquer around the frets that would require them to resand and re-laquer.

High end: Warmoth would be around $250 to $300 for a finished neck with cut nut. Local guy said 90-95 percent of the time, Warmoth are very good necks. He said the other 5-10 percent if the neck is bad, they are very hard to deal with, and will not admit fault. Then, they may or may not need a fret dress (around $80).

USA custom guitar around same as Warmoth (the guys who started, used to work at Warmoth I think). Very good rep.

Mighty Mite around $100. Not the same quality as the high end stuff, but you get what you pay for. May need fret dress.

Guitar tech recommended I bring the guitar down for him to take a look at, then he could give a recommendation (for free).

I really like the guitar, so I may go high end. Hell, I've changed almost everything else on it already, may as well go all the way...we'll see.

Please keep any recommendations/experiences coming.
Thanks.

I've had refrets on my Gibsons and have been VERY happy...

you may want to look into a refret.
