Here's a tidbit for you Steve.

I knew Marc Bolan in London before he was famous. My first time in England, fall of '67, shared a flat with a group of guys, one of whom was Steve Took, Marc's first musical partner. The two of them would practice almost daily for the demo they had been invited to make for John Peel!

My opinion at the time was that his squeaky voice (achieved in part at least by always wearing a scarf tightly wrapped around his neck) would never catch on. :-(

But then, I also thought that The Who was such a silly name that that wouldn't catch on either. big_smile
