Re: The Eagles

Thanks guys. Got back from the gig about 2 hours ago, just having a couple of Peroni's and savouring this evenings event.

Black suits, white shirts, black ties...I really was hoping for the check shirts, T-shirts, jeans and boots. It looked kind of 'corporate'. But...Oh My!!!!....how can those guys harmonize like that!!! They played plenty of the old stuff...Hotel California....Heartache Tonight...Lying Eyes...Desperado (brought a tear to my eye)...etc etc and some new 'Eden' stuff which I'm not too crazy about personally.

The volume was fairly quiet at the start (one guy shouted "turn it up") but it cranked up a few notches in the second set (yep, theres a short break).

The saving grace for me was Joe Walsh. Every time he stepped up to solo or sing  he gave it a kick up the a***. 'Life's Been Good' with the hat-cam was great and he got the biggest cheer of the night when the band introductions took place. It would've been great without him but it was fantastic with him.

The guitars were changed at pretty much every song but the overall tone sounded kinda processed and a bit harsh....and I was sitting just by the desk where you'd expect to get the best sound.

It was wonderful to hear 20,000 people singing along to songs that have shaped and become part of our lives.....bunch of old hippys that we are wink

Overall????.......DAMN!!!!...I've just been in the same room as The Eagles.....and it was an amazing night. Bloody expensive....but money well spent big_smile

Re: The Eagles

Hi Geoff,

Hmmmm.....the Eagles in suits?  Glad you enjoyed your time with them - no matter their attire.  We saw them here in our own backyard at Indian Wells Tennis Garden 2 1/2 years ago - and they were GREAT!!!  Desperado brought me to tears as well.  Thought you'd enjoy seeing these pics of them in jeans, etc.

They were recently added to the lineup at our upcoming (May) Stagecoach Festival, which we won't be attending.....too hot, too crowded, too country....too much.....

P.S.  Glenn Frey has a home here also - he's a BIG golfer.  smile

I know that Joe could play one of those kid's guitars with the plastic strings and make it sound good-

Re: The Eagles

Thanks for the pics Libby....that's what I expected them to be wearing.....a little more relaxed....they don't have to impress anyone by wearing a suit smile.

On one of the back drops it showed a mock-up of a sports monthly...the headline stated..'Glen Frey Wins US Open'. smile

Ahhhhhh, yes, the mysterious suit issue.......it all becomes VERY clear to me now, Geoff.  I seem to remember a discussion on this very forum, just a few days ago......something about Joe, and how we girls felt about him.....and his wearing a suit.......and, I said......

"I have a particular weakness for a man who wears a suit well.  cool  He wears it well.  tongue  "  ..........

and, I believe Miss Eva and several others agreed with me, and now......hmmm......well, let's see.....that thread posted on 3/21 and you saw The Eagles all suited up.........just 2 days later..........coincidence????  I think not.  Joe Bonamassa - Trendsetter.

Re: The Eagles

Maybe it depends on how old you were when they first hit you between the ears.....to me it's a part of my life....and a good part too. But as you said NPB, to each his own.

AND!!!!....there was a w%!k+*r sitting behind me with his girlfriend (looked like his daughter wink ) who kept talking. So, I gave them 'the look' and peace prevailed smile. Why do people pay over £100 per ticket to sit and talk???? Stay at home and do everyone else a favour! Jeez!!!

George, I thought of you when that line came up last night...taking it easy smile

Hi Libby. You're right my dear. The Eagles ROCK!! They are usually more laid back about their appearance. It's no cowinkydink about the suits. I'm sure they have been reading your posts. Because of your comments, I dusted off my old Easter suit & wore it to dinner yesterday!!!! My whole family was impressed with my dapper appearance!!! The kids really liked my big pink floppy ears the most. wink Thank you........Peter Rabbit

Re: The Eagles

Joe Walsh made it that lil extra too when I saw them his head cam is just well a laugh to say the least smile, Did Hotel California have the Trumpet intro ? and funny you should mention desperado ive just been in a music shop trying out an electric piano and guess what I was playing on it big_smile beautiful song...
Also was the session guitarist still playing for them?? Joe Walsh kept having to have a break when I saw them, the other guy did alot of the solos including the second solo in Hotel Cal..

Anyhow glad you enjoyed them big_smile

Re: The Eagles

Steuart Smith is still on guitar duties in place of Don Felder and a fine job he does too. Joe didn't seem to need a break at all last night....in fact he seemed to be having a good time. Yep, trumpet solo at the start of Hotel California.

Again, I blame the radio stations. I do admit they're legendary and have well written songs - it was just overplayed on my local radio stations. Since then, the Eagles have been replaced with Creed, Nickelback, Buckcherry, etc.

I digress.

You mean the Eagles actually have infiltrated a spie to this forum to check out the newest trends how to become a Rockstar in the UK?! Could be a possibility ... but no one wears a suit like Mr. Bonamassa, .... Joe Bonamassa. Vodka Martini. Shaken, not stirred. cool
